[REQ] NBC/Glen's Knight Rider-inspired wallpapers/icons
I was thinking that while we wait for the next few weeks for the NBC Universal movie to come out and then wait for probably another year or 2 for the feature film to be released, we as a community should come up with something to help feed our appetites in the meantime. And as for what we should do, I for one think that the Knight Rider community as a whole is sorely lacking good computer/cell phone/iPhone desktop pictures/wallpapers and/or icons. And since we have these 2 new exciting projects, I think it's high time for releases to be centered around these things. For instance, I would LOVE to see someone here with awesome graphic arts skills create a desktop picture using the teaser image for Glen's feature film project that's on the main page for this website. K.I.T.T.'s scanner against a black background with that new font as the wallpaper for my iMac at 1920 x 1200 resolution? Hell yeah! Or on the other hand, with the slew of high quality press photos that NBC Universal has released of the new mustang K.I.T.T. and the cast (along with screen captures of some of the 3 minutes of video footage we now have) would also make for some good photoshopping as another computer wallpaper image. I know we have the talent, we just don't seem to be using it that much these days for things like this.
Mike, didn't you suggest we all contribute photos that could be photoshopped into a Knight Insignia and blown up as a poster and sent to NBC Universal and/or Glen to show our support? Why not also do that as a desktop picture for everyone to download?
Icons for Mac OS X and Windows are also sorely lacking. If you're not a GUI enthusiast, all you need to do is take a look at work done on a site such as http://www.iconfactory.com to see the beauty that can be created for computers. Especially now that icons for both Windows Vista and Mac OS X can go up to 512 x 512 pixels, there could be some super sweet work done to bring Knight Rider to our computers in a whole new way.
Now, I don't have the Photoshop or Illustrator skills to create amazing icons or desktop pictures but I'm sure some of us here do. Even collaborative efforts would be a welcome change. So, I propose that we use this thread to post any and all wallpapers/icons you can come up with. I'll start and I better see some of you out there follow!
Here's a re-release of my Knight Rider 2000 and Knight Rider Classic icons that I came up with a few years ago. I know they have nothing to do with the new Knight Rider projects, but it's just a jump start for my contribution to this topic. I'm starting to rethink updating them with 512x512 resources too so hopefully I'll follow through on that if I can find the time. I also have some cell phone wallpaper images that I crafted a few years ago for my Motorola V551 but now I have an iPhone so again, I'll have to post some updated images for that as well.

I would love to do some wallpaper, but the required hi-res material of the new show is missing I hope they will be releasing some good stuff soon.
Re: [REQ] NBC/Glen's Knight Rider-inspired wallpapers/icons
ye like the last poster said the lack of hi-res images really makes this task difficult, I hope we can see some better promo shots/wallpapers from nbc to get to work on soon, i would loved to have done something better with my bebo skin but there really isn't much to work with at the moment

I agree that there are too few high-res promo photos on the web to use to create new icons/wallpapers but that doesn't mean people can't try with what they have. Look at almost any other big cult TV show or movie series and you'll find that web users are a creative bunch who can make do with anything. You don't need photos to do things with, a good photoshop or adobe illustrator artist can whip up something freehand in very little time these days and turn out amazing things. I'm sure we have artists like that floating around here and I'm just trying to gather up some talent and inviting them to showcase their work here.
Here are some iPhone-ready wallpaper images that everyone can download that I promised earlier (PC users can right click to download and Mac users can control-click to download).

Duster, that's very nice!! I love the way you mixed up that photo of the new KITT with the black background and blue smoke and how you also worked in the new design of the opening title and some of the elements of the NBC official webpage into it as well. Awesome work!
That's what I'm talking about people, let those creative juices show! I may end up releasing my own creation for a new desktop picture based on the new NBC series in the next day or 2 so be on the lookout.

That is one cool wallpaper image, but there is one problem: KITT doesn't look like that! That is evidently a concept image used for the attack mode KITT. The real attack mode KITT has single fog lights, no split (regular) turn signals, no color lights above the headlights, a single split bar on the scanner, and completely different wheels. That concept image looks better than the actual one. I wish it did look like that!
One man did make a difference.

Here's a few screen captures I made that I've been using as cell phone wallpapers:
My "awesome graphic arts skills" include removing NBC logos and brightening contrasts of screen caps. Although the captures are not HD quality, they do look good on a cell phone. I'll post some more pictures of how they look on my phone another time.
