hi!
there are some numbers in kitt dashboard near the windshield that i don't understand what they do. i've only seen those in knight of the phoenix when kitt is presented to michael and i think that they are some kind of "test numbers" or ram access codes. if anyone know what they are please tell me
the numbers are in the upper right corner of the following picture

Glad to help you out on that...
The yellow countdown numbers are actually in the overhead console...
They just continually countdown from 999999 to 0 then start over...
This unit was only on the "Pilot" and ffirst season overhead...

Wow, nice catch and even nicer explanation. I'm glad they ditched that big, bulky overhead console after Season 1.

It was there for the entire series. They just redesigned it when they introduced KITT's new dash in Season 3.

The bulky version existed only in Season 1. It consisted of the same electronics but was slimmed down a bit for Season 2. Seasons 3 & 4 shared another new overhead console of course.

Funny, I didn't notice that at all when I saw the pilot episode for "Knight Rider". Sorry....

I always thought those numbers could be the mileometer or a digital clock.
I like the big 1st season overhead console, it makes KITT's interior look like it's from aeroplane. It also makes it look futuristic.

I thought those numbers were there by mistake (a reflection from the camera?), as I have only ever seem them in that episode

Nope, there in the pilot overhead.
Watch the episode Just My Bill. They have a great shot of it
in there coutning and everything. The display did nothing but
count upwards from 0 to 999999, then it would start over.
This is what we designed into our overheads (as seen posted above)
They show it in a few other episodes as well, you just need to really look
for it. Its there.

I always thought it was KITT's up timer - ie how long KITT was operational for since he was put online, and for every time he is online.
