I live in Western Australia too, Though in a rural areaHondaSiR wrote:I understand that everyone drives around in Australia in right-hand drive cars. If so, if you buy a Trans Am or a KITT replica, wouldn't it cost a fortune just to convert it? And how about the KR dash?
Yes HondaSiR, You would have to design a dash and do a steering conversion, To put everything correctly on the opposite side of the car

G'day there boys. Yeah, I'm still around occasionally. Good to know there's a few of us over here. When one of us sees a KITT replica we should let the others know. I'd love to be first, but I need a large disposable income to be able to afford the level of authenticity I like. And that aint gonna happen for a while. Ciao!

Hey hey hey!! Been a few days since i was last on.. I like in Victoria! I was looking at Trans-ams as well, they're so damn expensive if you get one that's already imported [in excess of 20K]. You'd be better off importing a clapped out one from the states and restoring it, maybe throwing in a Holden 6 or 8 so you can get local parts easily..
KITT parts are REALLY expensive.. I think the nose cone by itself is about $1500 landed... can't remember if that's painted or not.
Having said all that, i'd still love to rock up at work in one..

Interesting you mention driving left hand drive car. I saw a left hand drive car (not a trans am) being driven on a major highway here in Victoria Australia. It was like your Commodore or Ford and had a Sticker Left hand Drive in big letters on the back bumper. Not sure what the legal requirements are but I'm guessing you need to indicate the car is left hand drive.

I'm in Australia too. Sydney to be exact. Just came back from the States on a three week holiday and was disapointed to see almost no Tran-Ams at all on the street. No-one in New York seems to have a car that size (apart from the cabs) and in LA everyone drives newer cars.
I believe you can have a left hand drive car here, but you must have a huge sign on the back. I think you also have to eventually have to have the car converted to right hand drive.
There are a couple of Trans-Ams driving around Sydney. I seem to see the same ones all the time. I think there's a stack more up in Queensland.
