Why did they change the cover of the Season 2 box?
At first, Michael is looking straight ahead and there are still some on ebay, but the one in the store has his head pointing down looking at the camera, why did it change all of the sudden?

Maybe it was to catch people's attention... cause the second version looks much more professional (those light effects...).
But the first version was a Season One DVD-like cover....
Anyway, do you know why they changed it?

I'm not really sure why they made the last minute change myself. Universal did the same thing for the upcoming third season of Quantum Leap, where they used an original promo picture from the series premier but then removed the stars' heads and pasted ones from other pictures. As a result, the characters look a little distorted and out of proportion.
Anyway, in my opinion there was really little to no effort put into the cover art at all, as it is nearly identical to the first season. I'm a stickler for originality and don't see what the art department has been doing besides looking for another picture of David Hasselhoff. (The members of this board including myself could have done a better job!) If they had contacted the people that helped provide bonus features for Season 1, they might have been able to at least take some new pictures of the K.I.T.T. replica to at least show a different angle.
I checked out the advertisement for Universal's other DVD sets included in the Season 2 set and it looks like all of the covers for the second seasons are only ever so slightly different. If the covers didn't actually say "Season Two" on them I don't think I'd even recognize any differences. As it stands, though, the cover art is really irrelavant and probably the least important aspect about the set. The effort given in the artwork is the absolute bare minimum in my opinion. Knight Rider fans deserve better.
