KNIGHT RIDER - Movie Cast List -
Who would you like to see cast in the rolls of the main characters
for the first KNIGHT RIDER movie?...
This would follow the plot of the piolet episode, not completely though
just the basic story line.
Here is my cast list... It may differ from yours, quite alot I think.
MICHAEL KNIGHT - Bruce Willis
K.I.T.T. - William Daniels
DEVON MILES - Patrick Stewart
WILTON KNIGHT - Jon Voight
Dr. RALPH WESLEY - Kelsey Grammer
TANYA WALKER - Jerry Hall
FRED WILSON - Jason Alexander
SECURITY OFFICER GRAY - Donald Southerland

I don't follow movies well so forgive the blatent goofups.
MICHAEL KNIGHT - Ben Aflack! (I might be nuts as I don't follow movies well so I might not have the name right.
K.I.T.T. - William Daniels (this goes without saying ) However, if there's a reason why Mr. Daniels would not be able to do this, then I vote for Brent Spiner (aka "Data" on Star Trek: The Next Generation). He can "do computer" pretty damn convincingly and his voice would work good for KITT as it's a tad similar to Daniels'
DEVON MILES - That guy who plaid the eldest in The A Team, if he's still around.
WILTON KNIGHT - Jon Voight (don't know him)
Dr. RALPH WESLEY - Kelsey Grammer (don't know the character but Kelsey's a good actor)
TANYA WALKER - How about that girl that played Seven of 9 in Star Trek Voyager?
FRED WILSON - Jason Alexander
SECURITY OFFICER GRAY - Steven Segal? He can get pretty evil! But I don't think he'd play minor roles anymore though.

Sorry to hear. Yeah, it was George Peppard. I can't think of any others that would play Devon. It's a shame that Edward Mulhare also passed on. I don't think that Patrick Stewart, even with a wig, would make a good Devon Miles. The accent might be there, but I think Stewart is more geared to roles different than that of Devon Miles. Mr. Miles had a tinge of dry humor. Maybe I was thinking too much of Mr. Stewart's role as Capt. Pickard. I haven't seen him in any other role to judge.
I have seen Brent Spiner in other roles than Data though and know this man has a lot of talent. I love his work. So that's why I'd choose him for KITT if Mr. Daniels wasn't available or able to take the role.
Unfortunately, that's about the extent of my movie actor knowledge. :/

I haven't really thought about the other characters but. . .Michael Caine is the perfect Devon Miles.
No one has mentioned Bonnie so I would say Carol Alt.
And of course William Daniels as KITT if they can't get him scrap the movie. . . because if I went to see it the whole time I would be saying "That guy doesn't sound like KITT!" and I wouldn't enjoy it.
PS- Keep the 1980s Trans Am not some new version!

I agree in the 80s Trans Am thing! Definitely I always known KITT to be an '82 modified. I wouldn't want to see him any other way. I didn't like the Dodge concept car they used for the KR2K at all. The Mad Max thing was as everyone knows, nothing to do with KITT or KR at all. I never saw that one anyway. The '57 Chevy wasn't KITT either.
KITT will always be KITT as long as he's in an '82 T/A. I think that and Daniels' voice is what made KITT's character.

Good actor? Yes... a complete A*$#ole in person? YES!!!! His voice would probably work.. but when I saw him at the ST convention, I lost all faith in him.I have seen Brent Spiner in other roles than Data though and know this man has a lot of talent. Are you serious? Damn! I wouldn't have guessed. But then again, nobody really knows these actors until you meet them. I hope that was just one of his bad days and not his "usual". That'd be a shame. I never had the opportunity to meet the guy so I don't know, and I haven't read any other accounts of him with fans. It's sad when these things happen though.KITTvsKARR wrote:Good actor? I believe that most of these actors are too well known and would give a "typical" hollywood performance that would be less that acceptable for this type of movie.. Sure, welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones is an absolute stunner but not really suited.. Patrick Stewart, myeh.. i'd be reliving X-Men I think.. Although I love Kelsey Grammer he'd bring too much of a comical nature to the film.. And I could sit here all night tearing apart the other actors suggested.. I still think Afleck is too soft to play Knights son.. He's too much of a pretty boy.
I hope they choose wisely..

What's all this I've been hearing about Ben Affleck? I'll be watching KR and whenever I see Michael I'll be imagining screwed up marriages and J-Lo's backside, too much of an A-list pretty-boy if you know what I mean!
Bruce Willis - LOL!!!
Why don't they just reinstate the entire original cast? tried and tested. Also we would regain a sense of nostalgia would we not? hehe

OK.. i had a thought.. why would we have to replace Devon? He passed away in the older movie, but seeing as Michael Knights son would be taking his place, Michael would in effect be taking Devons role. Now, whoever Knight Jnr ends up being is upto to David Hass.. BUT getting most of the original cast back would be a great asset for the movie. The only real person that would be missing is Devon [which Michael could logically replace.]
Yes. Affleck is too much of an A-List pretty boy for my liking too.. They need someone who is a bit more dark and mysterious
Thoughts?

Hmm.. thinking about it now... do we actually think that the orginal \characters from th pilot will be cast in the movie? Granted it would be great, but I don't see it happening. Am I correct in that there isn't any hard evidence on any characters yet?

Well I think they should cast a relative unknown in the role of Michael's son. I mean, Hasselhoff wasn't exactly a worldwide star going into the role of Michael Knight was he...? he played a role in 'The Young and the Restless', but was more or less an unknown going into KR... maybe the same logic would apply well here!
No I don't think Edward Mulhare should be replaced, in respect to a fine actor and gentleman.

MICHAEL KNIGHT - David Hasslehoff --- Has to be (PM: agreed!)
K.I.T.T. - William Daniels -- 82 TA (PM: double agreed!)

WILTON KNIGHT - John DeLancie (Q fron ST:Tng -- of the ones i've met, he is the coolest and most personable) (PM: Wilton risen from the dead...?)
DEVON MILES - Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver , SG-1) or Maybe John Cleese (PM: never replace edward! never never never!)
BONNIE - Angelina Jolie (PM: lara croft as KITT's technician, uuuuummm... nope! Patricia McPherson IS Bonnie, no one else!)
SECURITY OFFICER GRAY - Matthew Broderick (PM: naaaah, i'd take Bruce Willis LOL!)

I agree about the whole "unknown" actor playing the part. I think there is enough following of the show that they don't need to pay for a name, but for a good performance. But all I ask for is that it is produced.. and no ricers being main vehicles.

The new movie should have a new script, something like "Knight of a Thousand Devils", Mouth of the Snake", "Knight Flight to Freedom" or another episode with a really tough mission, set during the 1980's. The movie should have less of Devon and Bonnie (nobody can act those roles better than their original actors) and more of some new partners of Michael.
Either that, or a script with a new 2002 Trans Am with a new character of its own, said to be an apprentice vehicle, trained by Michael, KITT (as the good old 1982 Trans Am, mostly a Trans Am kit over a Grand Am) and some other partner. This new Trans Am won't have most of KITT's features that make him more agile or convenient or capable of accessing information, but is a more aggressive and heavily armed attack car. His new trainers have a few problems.

This is why. Look at the dimesnions of the Grand Am.
Wheelbase, in 107
Overall length, in 186.3
Body width, in 70.4
Overall height, in 55.1
Front track width, in 59
Rear track width, in 59.1
And those of a Trans Am
Wheelbase 2566 mm / 101.0 in
Overall length 4823 mm / 189.8 in
Width 1830 mm / 72.0 in
Overall height 1264 mm / 49.8 in
Tread, front 1541 mm / 60.7 in
Tread, rear 1540 mm / 60.6 in
Thus, the wheels at the back can be shifted ahead a little (in this case, a lot). The chassis can be extended from the back as well as the front, for the front bumper. Height is an issue, but there are a few inches of space. Front/Rear tread is no problem. Tyre and wheel dimensions are the same. The best fit, however, is the Honda Accord. Kit car makers know what to do. The Ferrari used in stunts in Magnum PI was a kit car. Why not use one for Knight Rider? Trans Ams are limited in number.

I think Bruce Willis is way wrong to play Michael Knight in the "Knight Rider" movie, because I don't think he'll make talking to a car believable at all; David Hasselhoff did that right in the original series!
My ideal cast wound be:
Michael Knight: David Hasselhoff; he's still standing, as it were....
Devon Miles:Morgan Freeman( I know that's different, but he's a good actor, and it's imaginary casting; I could see him portraying Mr. Miles, in a different light)
KITT:William Daniels
Bonnie Barstow:Sandra Bullock
RC3:Peter Parros(on break from "As the World Turns")
Wilton Knight: John Voight
I know some of these names are way out of the ball park, but they're mainly hypothetical, for the time being....
