In "Trust Doesn't Rust," KARR's scanner was red. It wasn't until KITT vs KARR that his scanner was amber.DMC4EVER wrote:KARR would kill the guy how designed his model, it has an red scanner

Re: Hot Wheels (Mattel) to release KITT in 2011!!!!
Most of the editions of the Charawheels (Japanese) hot wheels K.A.R.R. I've seen have "neon orange paint" over the scanner in an attempt to make it more show accurate (though they should have just used yellow).
While K.A.R.R.'s scanner was red in Trust Doesn't Rust, he never had the two-tone paint job so I agree it would look out of place on the two-tone model. However it is also possible for K.A.R.R. to be released "pre-paint" with the same black look at KITT with the yellow scanner as featured in the beginning of K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R when K.A.R.R. is first found on the beach by John.
So there could be three acceptable variants for a K.A.R.R. release. Let's hope they at least get the two-tone silver look right with the paint going over the wheel wells. Somehow I doubt it though.

Based on Mattel's history with their main-line Hot Wheels, I highly doubt that as well.Victor Kros wrote:Let's hope they at least get the two-tone silver look right with the paint going over the wheel wells. Somehow I doubt it though.

Nope. Mattel's standard HotWheels line never has exact release dates, only release yearsjames olden wrote:cant wait til it comes out does it have a release date ?

Wow! I will be looking for it, too! This was the first I'd heard that Hot Wheels is going to release K.I.T.T.

I collect all of the Hot Wheels new series when they come out. I'm glad they've reduced the number of cars they release in the "New Models" series to 40. When I first started collecting them back in 98, it was over 100. In the 2011 New Models series, I've gotten the first 14. I think that's all they will release for 2010. As far as KITT is down in the list, it'll likely be the late winter, early spring before they release him. The BTTF Delorean should be pretty soon however. Keep a check this week. They may try and rush it out for Christmas.

Wow! The Delorean, too? That's awesome!
We've been using Hot Wheels as a potty training incentive for my son, and he's gotten a SLUG of them! My dad even found the Ghost Busters car for him. I'll be getting a K.I.T.T. for him as well as one for me. He has his own Star Cars K.I.T.T. that I bought out of the package before I managed to get a packaged one for myself. He loves it!

I already have the hotwheels kitt and KARR in my collection. They are not that great. I wouldn't expect much.

I assume you mean the Charawheels KITT & KARR. They were fantastic 1:64 models. The best to date.Skav wrote:I already have the hotwheels kitt and KARR in my collection. They are not that great. I wouldn't expect much.

Re: Hot Wheels (Mattel) to release KITT in 2011!!!!
Glad to see new Knight Rider modelcars coming, I'll definetely get one when it's released.
Hotwheels have made 1/18 models as well at least Ferrari's, I've got Enzo made by them. Wishful thinking I know but hopefully they could do 18th scale KITT & KARR more accurately than ERTL did.

I guess I'll have to search elsewhere, or try and get down to my local Walmart early in the morning. I see where they have release up to number 28, but I still haven't seen the BTTF car yet. :-/ May have to hit up the nearby Toy-r-us.

I am judging them as standalones, not compared to anything else, and they suck.Josch Schulz wrote:Ähm are you sure you have the right cars Not that great In 1:64 it was the best car they ever made, show me a bedder version It is bedder then the Ertl 1:64 and the matchbox....Code: Select all

I have the KARR with the painted on scanner that is pictured in this thread and KITT with the rubbish plastic scanner.
They are what they are, they are just not anything outstanding, IMO.
If you want a KITT and a KARR that is the size of your thumb with minimal detail then people will like them.

As stand-alones, you should be comparing them with other such carded 1:64 scale vehicles. This being the case, they are outstanding models with details that are usually ignored on standard-issue carded 1:64 cars.Skav wrote:I am judging them as standalones, not compared to anything else, and they suck.

Awesome news. I'll definitely be grabbing two sets of these babies so I can display a set and then store a set for collector purposes. I'll have to start religiously cruising the Hot Wheels aisle now.

I saw black DeLorean by Hotwheels in the shelves the other day, if it's supposed to be the BTTF DeLorean, shouldn't it be in brushed aluminium finish instead of glossy black?

Re: Hot Wheels (Mattel) to release KITT in 2011!!!!
What you saw was the third release of Hot Wheels Delorean line. The first was brushed silver, the second was gold and the third was black. The BTTF Delorean will have the same colour and rims as the first silver release; essentially, it will be the same car with added "BTTF equipment".KITTfan wrote:I saw black DeLorean by Hotwheels in the shelves the other day, if it's supposed to be the BTTF DeLorean, shouldn't it be in brushed aluminium finish instead of glossy black?

Has anyone seen any of these yet? I've seen a lot of Hot Wheels on the shelf from the 2011 new models series that are higher numbered than the BTTF Delorean, but still haven't seen it.

The Delorean should come out within the next 1-3 months. KITT will be out much later. I'll have a photo of it well before it's in stores, so stay tuned.

I have the BTTF Delorean. It looks just like the picture that was posted earlier in this thread. Now the frantic watch for the Hotwheels KITT. I'm pretty sure it won't be as good as the Charawheels version, but still will be cool to have one released her in the US.
