Indeed a very strange way of addressing his pain. I don't know if there might be a connection to a so called real life pain such as the divorce or just another way of bringing in some money. Why would you create a game were you're hurting yourself and then claiming that it makes you feel good?
Michael: Kitt what matters to me is who you are not what you look like. Sure we don't have the car so we can't turbo boost so we can't go over 200 miles an hour but it was all icing on the cake anyway

I think it only shows The Hoff has a great sense of humor and is confident enough about himself to pull wackiness like this off.
EDIT: Just so everyone knows, PAIN the game has been around since the launch of PSN service; The Hoff became part of it later as downloadable content. So it's not 'just' about hurting Hoff.
