Hi, I'm new to these boards, and.....
Actually, In a posting I saw yesterday (forget where), but on it was a pic of KI3T's keyboard. It was the keyboard that accompanies Apple's newest line of mac, so KI3T on the show is compatible with Mac, not PC. Also in another post (I also forget where), I saw that someone was installing a MiniMac into their car's dash so it can control the voicebox for their KITT replica....

Hmm, I'd like to get one, too.
Please don't think i'm trying to knock it down, but I'm a tinkerer from a long time ago, and this is a very, very fine job of replication.
I was under the impression that somehow this guy got a warhead nose. But before you all go off, let me explain!
Some years back, I was doing research on precious gems, and got off on a tangent of grown synthetic ones. Turns out that the good ol US military has thousands of these things grown, and they look just like KITTs orb. These things take months to grow, are shaped and polished, and are so hard that the bomb that it is mounted on can go through a sandstorm without abrading--thats HARD!!! Also, they transmit infrared, i.e., they can and do mount infrared cameras in the smart bombs or missiles, and the camera can see through the sapphire gem as if it was not there. Yes, its sapphire. Then I got to thinking, what better material to protect the all seeing eye of KI3T, and consequently, his CPU!
For those of you wondering further about other synthetic gems, a young lady at a jewelry shop offered to get me WHATEVER I wanted. I mentioned the rough spec for a synthetic ruby sized for a cutting laser, and she said she could get her hands on one. This was before 9-11, I don't think you can get one now unless you are a university or someone that really needs one, like to cut spec steel. Wouldn't that be something to mount in KI3Ts nose!

It includes the orb which is made of solid state optical grade display.
The display board electronics,
All necessary software so that KI3T can talk back and hear you.
Front brushed faceplate with black cloth vent openings.
Installation instructions for Mustangs.
