This scene appeared in Season 2, "Merchants of Death", where Michael picked up Camela.

That was it! Thanks one man! I was thinking it was an episode where they were in Arizona. ...So across the street used to be a shell gas station and now it’s an empty lot.

And Joe, another PCH, aka Pacific Coast Hwy location is when KARR is rediscovered. That should also be in Malibu somewhere.

Blind Spot. Gastner's Auto Wrecking Yard. 555 N Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90033.

This one is still there, although it looks like they've scaled it back a bit. I've included two shots of the yard, plus a long shot including the bridge that is seen at the beginning of the episode.

Season 4: Many Happy Returns

(after the hivercraft was stolen in the beginning of the episode)
Driving scenes during Michael's vacation:

A. Location:
Lake Casitas (Route 150), Ventura, CA
Latitude: 34°23'20.41"N, Longitude: 119°21'37.16"W

B. Location:
W Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro, CA
(near Angeles Gate Park and Point Fermin Park)
Latitude: 33°42'35.13"N, Longitude: 118°17'47.63"W

This road also looks like the final scene in
"Trust Does Not Rust" where KITT encountered KARR.

C. Location:
complex junction of Highway 101/1 and railroad, Ventura, CA
Latitude: 34°17'36.89"N; Longitude: 119°20'23.35"W

Here is another scene during Michael's vacation:
It might have been filmed at "Morro Rock" (HW 1) or "Rincon Point" (HW 101).

You can see two clues in the background of the swimming pool:
white birdcage structure (left, small circle)
Shoreline Village at Long Beach (right, large circle)
==> see the locations in "Knight Behind Bars" in this thread

This is how I discovered the location of the "Twelve Palms Hotel".

Now, back to "K.I.T.T. Vs K.A.R.R."! As I said in the earlier post about "Return to Cadiz", the Paradise Cove location was used for both episodes. Now you can see just how close the locations were!

Looking across John's shoulder as he leans into K.A.R.R., you can see the Paradise Cove pier, which K.I.T.T. turbo boosted off in "Cadiz":

Image

Image

Using MSN Live Maps, I snapped a couple of bird's eye shots. The rocks are about 100 yrds from the "Three Shells" restaurant used in "Cadiz", and probably appear in the episode (most likely as Jennifer Shell invites Michael to dinner).

Image

As John drives K.A.R.R. away, you can see that the rock formations at the foot of the cove still appear to be the same:

Image

Image

A couple of hundred yards down the beach is the winding road that K.A.R.R. raced up to get to the highway:

Here are the rocks as seen from the beach in front of the restaurant, in the scene I mentioned above:

Okay, this picture begs me to ask...

Can someone photoshop K.A.R.R.'s yellow scanner in the sand in the background???

The cylinder-shaped building (also seen in Macgyver!) is a well known hotel:

Los Angeles, CA

I actually went to the 360 revolving restaurant in the top floor before :D

Next... a location that was used in *every* episode of Knight Rider!

It's Stage 1 at Universal City Studios: the Knight Rider Stage! It's located right at the front of the lot, and is only a short walk from the ever-present Black Tower. See the shots below:

Ahh, good one, Paul...and one most wouldn't think of!

I have another location that I haven't had much luck in finding...this one is a San Francisco location from "Knight of the Drones" - Margo's house:

Image

and here are some clues:

Notice the land formation in the background:
Image

See the barely visible building in the background that looks like a sharp point? That's the TransAmerica building in downtown SanFran:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

and this one especially helps, notice the Golden Gate Bridge in the background:

Image

I *think* I've narrowed the area as to where the house should be to the circled area below:

Let the hunt begin!

I now think Margo's house is somewhere on Belvedere Island! Check out this street view from Heathcliff Dr in Belvedere...

Image

This is almost the right angle....GG Bridge on the right, city on the left...I think the house is just higher up in the hills than this...

We're close!

I'm pretty sure I have it! (Boy, was it a toughie.)

The key to finding it is the elevation, so I looked for some of the highest properties in the surrounding areas. Look at the attached shot, and let me know what you think. The shape of the house, especially around the pool area (look at the rooftop), and the shape of the driveway leading to the house leads me to think it's the right one. Also notice there is a gate where there should be, too.

I checked out the angles on the map aerial settings, and it seems that the view is everything it should be. As with many of the other properties we've found, there have been developments nearby since Knight Rider was there.

The property is located on Place Moulin, Belvedere Tiburon, CA.

An aerial view from Google. Notice the shape of the pool, and the way the balcony curves outward -- look just behind C.J. Jackson and Babette in Joe's screenshot... we have a match.

I believe you may be right, Paul! Google Streetview gives us a glimpse of the front gate of that property, and it does seem to match the episode:

One thing that has to be taken into account is, the lens used in filming distorts the perspective of what is real life. Objects will appear closer than they really are, i.e. the filmed picture with the Golden Gate Bridge as opposed to the Heathcliff Dr picture Joe posted.

These 2 pictures should have made it the easiest to find. At least given a straight line in which to look.

Image

Image

With the TransAmerican Pyramid being on the left, and the 555 California Building being on the right, along with water inbetween, the location would be to the north. Now if you notice the object directly in front of the Pyramid (roughly eye-level of the girl in red on the right in the first picture, and also just above David's hair at the forehead), it could only be Alcaraz. In both pictures, the Pyramid looks to be right in the center of Alcatraz. On a map, drawing a line from the Pyramid and through the center of Alcatraz and extending the line over the land masses to the north, the line passes right over the location.

Reference points, a bit of logic, and sometimes the use of some math, make finding picture locations easier. :D

This location first appeared as Alpine Crest Sheriff in "A Nice, Indecent Little Town",
then appeared as Woodfield Police in "Silent Knight". You can also see street scenes
in Covina in both episodes. I actually visited Covina earlier this year, will post some
'now and then' pictures soon :)

Season 1: Nobody Does It Better. Michael is being pursued by Private Eye Flannery Roe, and leads her to:

Haynes St, Winnetka, CA

and a connecting cul-de-sac, where he gets arrested:

Drake Pl., Winnetka, CA 91306

One that we all missed:

Season 2, Let It Be Me. Stevie stays at -- you guessed it -- the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn! This is the side block previously used in "Custom K.I.T.T."

Some screenshots:

Season 2, Knightmares.

The first location is Cara Caulfield's apartment building, where Michael gets into a struggle with Frank Poole, and jumps from the balcony! This building is located on the corner of Wilshire Blvd and Holmby Avenue:

Image

Image

Michael calls to K.I.T.T., who is parked on Holmby Avenue:

Image

Image

As they speed onto the street, they are blocked by the police:

Image

Another location used in the show is Royal Oak Rd, Encino, CA. This is the road where Michael is reaquainted with K.I.T.T. ("Whoa! You are hot!"), and the site of a Turbo Boost! Some shots from this sequence were reused in later episodes, such as "Killer K.I.T.T." in season 4.
