Trans Am's/Pontiacs
What do you think about the other models of Trans Am and other Models of Pontiac, like Firebird and GTO.
I got a Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine that's sold in the USA and here. And they had some nice pics of other pontiacs as well as a KITT replica.
I will post a pic of an 81 soon.

I like most Pontiacs. I have a Grand Am myself. I don't like the G6 though. Just not my thing.

Other models of the Trans Am that I like are:
- 1979 Trans Am in black with the giant gold Firebird emblem on the hood, also with tan interior.
- The 1982 Recaro edition in black with tan interior and gold trim. With or without the "bowling ball" hubcaps, but with gold rims.
- The 2002 Ram Air in black with tinted windows, side skirts and grey interior. The Firehawk version is good as well.
- The 2002 Trans Am in black without the Ram Air hood is nice as well and less aggressive looking.
I hate the later versions of the 3rd generation with the "wrap around" spoilers, skirts, and that horrible looking rounded nose.
As for other Pontiac models that I like:
- The 2006 Pontiac Solstice (red or silver). While I'm not too crazy about the front, I do like the overall design and it looks like a nice "weekend" car.
- The 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT in black with chrome rims.

I like the original 60's 1st gen Firebird, Jackson & Brown drove a customized one in the pilot.
2nd gen Firebird TA from Smokey & the Bandit and the "Silverbird" anniversary Trans-Am.
Third gen Firebird Trans-Am 1982-1984 is what I like the most, I think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever made Especially black & gold colour, turbocast rims & bowling ball hubcaps, buldge hood, tan interior with PMD seats and, well... the KITT setup The later 3rd gen models lost the original shape with gfx, wrap around spoilers, etc.
4th gen Firebird look also quite cool, at least the original 1993-1995? model. Later the facelift model made it look kind of "ugly" to me.
I also like Pontiac Fiero.

Wow Did they have any performance figure in the mag too? It would be interesting to see what that car can do ...James_kr wrote:Here is a pic I took out of the Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine:
I love that one. I notice the differences between the 81 and the 82 (the small differences)
"Small differences" between 81 and 82 ???
The front was the one of the biggest things that changed on the 82, as the headlights were pop up.
And not forgetting the interior change to fully plastic fantastic ...
Whose car is that? I wonder how they were able to keep the original bumper and incorporate the scanner as well? Very nice !

It's actually just one light, it's the outer cover that has a bar through the middle that makes it look like two lights.James_kr wrote:Notice how it has two indicator lights on the side and two side break lights.
The rear side marker just lights up with the parkers, it's not a brake light.James_kr wrote:I don't understand why they had those on cars back then, today we have a side indicator up near the door and that's it.
The front side marker also lights up with the parkers and it also doubles as an indicator light.
The front ones are very important as you can see that a driver next to you on the freeway wants to change lanes as you can't see their front and rear indicators.
The reason for having side marker lights in the first place is that it makes it easier (especially at night) to recognise and identify the front and rear of a vehicle when viewed from the side. Not sure about regulations, legislation, etc. in the States or Europe, but we never seemed to place much importance on that, that's why 99% of our cars don't have them.

Nope, it's just one globe. It just looks there's two because of the outer bezel (which would be the same colour as the rest of the car, of course!).James_kr wrote:i think its two lights because i can see where the bulb is on each of them.
The red ones on the back I think maybe because they were fairly wide it could have helped passing cars at night. I think it looks good like that. I didn't think it was a brake light.
Yes, I agree, as well as the side markers having a useful purpose, they really do enhance the appearance of these cars, day and night
