I have the KITT version with the amber/orange foglamps. If your ERTL KITT has those orange lamps, then it is the first version. The second release of ERTL doesn't have those orange lamps anymore, only clear lenses (although these clear lenses mysteriously have black dots in them).

ERTL probably received many complaints regarding the orange foglamps so they replaced them with clear ones. They could have done better by also altering several other features (such as the blocky sideview mirrors and incorrect tail lights) but its a welcome change nonetheless.

After having the model for quite some time now, I've actually gotten used to the orange foglights on my ERTL model.. It ain't that bad.. The model(together with the 1/18 KARR) still looks great on my display shelve no matter what!!! Stands out the most from all the models that I have on display

The ERTL KARR is not yet released. What you see in imranbecks' picture is his Aoshima version which was released at about the same time as the first version KITT.

I think I may knock this thread of a sticky. 58 pages is a bit much for anyone to wade through, and it just might be daunting for people to look at. Feel free to start another one with a summary of what has taken place. But I'll probably knock this off sticky tonight.

Nooooo!
Well, can we wait until after Ertl's KARR release? I'm sure it will spark quite a bit of discussion. If you won't do it for me, do it for David!!!

But wouldn't the Joyride release be well received in its own thread? Instead it gets lost in a KITT based thread. Let KARR have his moment to shine!

Touche! Umm... can we make a new KARR sticky? Something like '1/18 Die Cast Ertl KARR Coming This Summer'.

Just recieved my signed Hasselhoff 1:18 KITT from grandprixlegends today. Curiously though, its version 2 with the six clear fog lights. I didn't think these existed in the UK as it was only a few months back that the same company sent me version 1 (with orange fog lights). Must have been a recall of stock I suspect otherwise I can't explain such a quick turn around.

Hi
dennisdko, Welcome to the boards! I'm also from the Philippines (Quezon City to be exact).
Kumusta ka dyan sa Caloocan pare?
It's a matter of luck if you really want to find the second version. You might want to check out Uncle Johnny's hobby shop in Megamall and SM City from time to time to check if they have it in stock. Also visit Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan (Jebb's hobby shop). And also the area near Greattoys.net store, there's a stall there that only sells 1/18 scale diecast cars. Been there recently and they have the ERTL KITT, but I didn't check if it was the 2nd version.
Guess what? If you look hard enough at the stalls there in Ghills, you can even find an unopened/sealed (but the packaging is a bit crushed on one side but contents are fine I think) Kenner Turbo-Boost Crash set! The one with the Comtron semi truck! It's priced at 1200 pesos (roughly US$23.00)! I'm really not interested in it since I already have the talking Kenner KITT, but in case you are, there it is!
If I go window shopping again, I'll let you know here if I come across a 2nd version KITT.
