I already made turnsignal "covers" from sticker kind of clear plastic that is used for covering books in libraries. It's too thin though, the "covers" doesn't show up very well. Maybe thicker plastic would work better.

I doubt that. I don't know why KITT would be produced as a limited edition, when 1:18 cars from other franchises seem to be very freely available. And as much as we all enjoy Knight Rider, it isn't exactly a show with a huge mainstream following. ERTL knows how to make toys and models in sufficient, saleable quantities. There were probably some manufacturing gaffes that have slowed shipment of the ERTL KITTs to retail stores in time for the Christmas shopping season. That's my guess, anyway.HondaSiR wrote:No, I don't think so. The factory probably has problems with the huge demand that they can't keep up, resulting in a backlog. Another theory is that this is a limited run of 10,000 pieces, as Skav pointed out earlier. Not to mention that its almost Christmas, where fans may buy more than one to give as a gift to someone.Knight Industries 3000 wrote:Could the fragility of the KITT toys be why they have yet to show up in retail stores?
Hey neps. I noticed that you mentioned the BTTF II DeLorean but the photo shows the BTTF I DeLorean. Have you gotten the Part III version yet?neps wrote:
Amber lights? Damn, I thought Aoshima/Skynet went for perfection, I would have thought they used pure yellow LEDs. Best solution would be to dismantle the assembly altogether and replace the existing LEDs with yellow ones. Other than that, putting a yellow cellophane over the lens would be worth a shot.Lost Knight wrote:Does anybody happen to have any good ideas on how to make the scanner appear more yellow, as it is amber colored? I want to put a transparent yellow lens over the plastic to see how the effect will come out and hopefully make the scanner look more yellow.
A nice touch by Aoshima, a real Trans Am (or KITT) would have a black gas tank, not silver.Lost Knight wrote:Another subtle difference between this company and Ertl is that the battery compartment is colored black, not silver (as some of you may have already noticed).
Yup, the cowl induction hood is not that accurate, it leans too far to the right side when it shouldn't.KNIGHTBOY wrote:I was looking at the car again and another error just popped out at me: the cowl thing on the hood is way too centered. There should be a line straight down the middle, but the cowl overlaps it.
I painted the outer square rings flat black in order to become more accurate to the show. It just didn't seem right when it came out of the box and I noticed it right away. Feel free to customize your KITT, it looks great when you finish painting it.PBH wrote:Maybe I missed something in this thread. Anyone else notice the diffence in the rims? Note that PIC 1 has "deeper" holes along the outer circumference of the rims. Is it just me, camera trick or was this just a mod?
Unfortunately, that thing's as orange/amber as can beHondaSiR wrote:Amber lights? Damn, I thought Aoshima/Skynet went for perfection, I would have thought they used pure yellow LEDs.
