Well, getting back on track, I agree with Laura that MK was a man on a mission, with or without the Foundation, but the Foundation gave him better means to accomplish his goal.

One man can't make a difference, we're all doomed... (sorry, just been listening to the news on the radio).

My issue with the "one man..." quote still remains the part where Wilton tells Michael "you are going to be THAT man." Taken out of context, it sounds sort of singular and exclusionary: it's as if he's saying, "we need someone to make a difference. OK, Michael Knight will take the job so everyone else, don't worry about it."

The way I reconcile it in my brain is that Wilton very much thought of himself as "one man who made a difference" and in many ways he saw Michael as a reincarnation of himself. Wilton believed in the power of the individual, but he specifically targeted Michael to carry on his work after he died.

And Wilton did make a difference. Michael certainly took the physical risks but Wilton took the financial risks and was visionary enough to try to pull off an AI super car to protect his reincarnation. I was going to say that he was more of one man making a difference by himself than Michael, and probably in the sbeginning he was, but I think I'm still back to the idea that if you're going to make a huge difference you need to inlist the help of others. He was very good catalyst though.

Can you tell I waffle about things a lot.

That kinda ties in with the whole Garth vs. Michael thing too….

Remember the scene where Garth says something along the lines of
“Michael was made to replace me. How could I possibly tolerate his existence on this planet…he is a living breathing insult to my existence.”
