That's the plan, unless it bombs horribly or evokes the very VERY negative reaction Knight Rider 2000 did. Those are the only two things that IMO will really derail it. Though the Writer's Strike and the potential strikes from other Hollywood unions could cause turmoil as well.
The new and again improved evil's advertisement is currently too long and too badass to display here. But let's just say that with now 50% more evil, this **** is great!

NBCU wants Knight Rider back on, the fans want it back, Mr Larson wants to do something with it..
Why is it so f*cking hard to work something out?
What is it exactly that everyone wants???

Viktor, based on your inside information, victor kros wrote:Or if they get sued.

a) how possible is it that NBCU gets sued so that they can't do a series
b) when approximately will that be decided
and c) when will we get the first actual information on that. I remember you said something about february or march, is that correct?
Thanks!

I think that the jury will be out of this sequel until February when it airs. Then people will either hate it or love it.

The only thing I'm worried about is it being heavily advertised as Terminatore the series?I know at this stage its a made for tv movie but still I haven't seen a word about it in my area.

Re: so from the 2 minute preview
Terminator starts this week and I only had seen commercials and posters in this last month. I think it's safe to say we'll start seeing them in the next couple of weeks.
From what I've read, Larson sued for Creator credit on Team Knight Rider and won - but we still had a complete series. I think that if the show is green lit for a full season, and there winds up being any litigation (which I hope not) it shouldn't affect the airings.
But to be honest - the threat of lawsuit isn't the biggest worry NBC has right now. It's the never ending WGA strike.

Re: so from the 2 minute preview
a) Depends on the outcome of the court decision. It's possible that Glen and NBCU can find some sort of compromise and allow both properties to co-exist, or there could be an injunction, or some other stipulation that would at the very least stall out production of a new series until a compromise was reached beyond the WGA strike.Duster wrote:Viktor, based on your inside information, victor kros wrote:Or if they get sued.

b) Up to the courts to decide.

Neil is correct, NBCU has bigger problems to worry about but also consider that since TWC and the WGA made a deal, we can continue to develop the feature film and move forward while the NBCU television series (and the rest of television) would be stuck in idle until the strike was officially over. As it stand now, United Artists, Dimension, and TWC are the only film studio companys allowed to write/revise/polish new scripts. (and of course Letterman's company)
As for the 2 minute preview (to keep the subject on track) you really can't pull much out of it either way because it's geared to get you excited, but you don't know like many movie trailers for instance if you've just seen the best part of the movie or if the movie can really keep your attention for it's entirety. I will say I'm disappointed to see that KITT looks to be neglected and dismantled in some garage but at least you can recognize the car, rather then see parts piled in some bin.
I am curious to see how they handle the transition. Having pulled together several "reviews" of the script, I'm able to get a pretty good idea of what to expect from a story standpoint. It doesn't have the same character depth and flow to me as Knight of the Pheonix but we will see how things work out I suppose. I would not expect the original KITT to do much more then serve as a dusty, neglected, motionless prop. I do not see a team up of KITTs streaking across the horizon in our future.
I can accept this new KITT is engineered to be a polar opposite to the original KITT. Everything about the K3000 is aggressive and mean, tenacious, and in some ways egotistical...all opposite to what the K2000 represented which was class, intelligence, elegance, and pride..someone you could take to without feeling intimidated. A car built to preserve human life...not attack it.
I'm going to miss the signature sound of KITT's turbine engine whirring across the small screen and his trademark cylon scanner announcing his presence whereever he went but when you demand change, other things are driven into extinction.
