When I saw the very first shot for the new teaser of NBC-Universal's Knight Rider a few weeks ago, I instantly recalled a very similar shot for a promo called Team Knight Rider that, coincidentally, debuted a little over a decade earlier...
New Knight Rider shot...
Team Knight Rider promo shots...
Maybe there IS something to these rumors that NBC-Universal is drawing a little too much inspiration from TKR...

Having a car under a cover is hardly a super-original idea:
The original series previewed Season 3 with KITT in a car cover.
The original series previewed Season 4 with fast glimpses of KITT in a dark smokey background.
The new series isn't borrowing anything from the TKR promotions; if anything they're borrowing from the original.
And what TKR rumors are you talking about?

I know that having a car underneath a cover is not original, that wasn't really the point I was making. I just thought that the new NBC promo started off in an eerily similar way to how they once promoted TKR when it was coming up for being released. Honestly, if you look at at the second TKR promo ad that I posted and compare it to the new Knight Rider shot, you can see that it's not just that they have the "car-under-a-cover" concept, both also feature lights reflecting off of a shiny floor, both have very bright lights in the background and both feature using at least a hint of fog/smoke to give it a more dramatic effect. And while they did do something sort of like that for the classic Season 3 and technically, Season 4 promos, IMO the new Knight Rider promo almost couldn't bear any more resemblance to the Team Knight Rider shots had they tried. And as for the TKR-inspired rumors I mentioned, I was joking in reference to a post another member made on another thread here when they said that it seems like the new NBC TV movie may have more TKR-inspired elements than classic Knight Rider. Honestly, I don't agree with that line of thinking, I agree that NBC is giving many more nods to classic Knight Rider in this TV movie (as it should be). Still, these ad comparisons are pretty funny to compare and that's all I was aiming for with this thread.

KFCreator: Can you try and use some line breaks next time? Its hard to read such a large paragraph. Thanks!
I can see the similarities, but I think thats more the style of photographs and design - if you look on the web reflective surfaces are all over the place.
And like Michael said - it's been done for the original Knight Rider before.
I don't think they ever said they even watched TKR, in fact I'm pretty sure they avoided watching it completely.
