Absolutely. Even if it wasn't for me, it seems silly to put this much time into it and not make it availible to others. If the file's not too big, I might post the max file itself.
Slowly but surely:

I like the engine design, especially since that's the type of engine KITT is really supposed to have. Sadly all of the shots in the show when the hood is open just show a regular V8 (if you look closely), not the turbojet that's supposed to be there.

Had to remodel the nose AGAIN

Oh well. That part is roughed in extremely well and I've got the mirrors almost done. Don't know if anyone's reading this for updates, but I need to feel like somebody's watching

Knight2000 wrote:I had a stab at making a 3D KITT but was kinda limited by not having exact measurements (so I had to guestimate everything) and having to get by with looking at screen grabs from the DVD boxsets.
I should have some overhead images somewhere so I'll go dig for them and stick them online. Not sure when but hopefully by the end of the week (Sunday by the very latest).
Depends if you can wait that long
PS the drawings are cool. I always
did have difficulty with the front shot of KITT.

I'd still like to get your images if you'd still be willing to donate them

i'm following closely every step you make. i'm very interested in this project. as a 3d modeller and knight rider fan myself i always wanted to do my own 3d KITT, but the lack of blueprints and freetime always kept me from doing it.
your model looks great so far! of course you've a lot of work to do on it, but i hope you'll keep it up and make good progress, because i'm really interested to see this one finished!

I bet y'all thought I wouldn't submit a new entry for Saturday. Well, it's a tad late, but this hood was hard to finish. I'm not 100% happy with it, but I'm tired and have to work in the morning. I know - it doesn't look like much, but it was hard, trust me.

Thanks for the comments

Here's another one. I messed with the nose a LOT more. I think it's better.

Guess those 196 images helped you out huh?
Would you like me to get started on interiors?

BoMcD - Thanks

Honestly, I was a little intimidated by your model when I got started. Glad to have your approval.
Knight Racer - Thanks for those by the way. I'm not nearly ready for the interior, but any time you have a chance, I'd love to get the images from you

Eventually I'll do both ... I think I'll start with season 1. It's the beginning - a very good place to start

Plus, then it'll be easy to do KARR.

I promised myself I'd get more sleep tonight, so I've cut my work short. I'll also be out of town for a couple of days with no chance to work on KITT. So, this is it for a while. It's exciting though. I can't wait to see this finished!

Dude, that's some awesome work.
In fact, you've inspired me to redo my own version of KITT. Not as brilliant as yours. Plus I was doing it whilst I had insomnia (again!).
Am still having problems with the hood and the meshsmoothing (never does what I want it to), so I did the best I could q/out meshsmooth
Still, here's a pic:

Dude! Those are some sweet materials. And the model is great! You've really captured the feel of KITT. I hope mine looks as nice when it's finished.
I'm not sure because I can't see the model, but I suspect you have some extra verticies in the nose scoop. If you're interested in fixing it, I'd try deleting some polygons, seeing if there are any extra ones and then carefully rebuilding them.

You guys are awesome! George, you're doing fantastic on that model! If I had time to learn Blender like I had hoped to, I would probably be trying to make KITT and KARR as well.
Anyone ever try to do a KIFT by any chance?

You can see the hood more clearly in this pic
Didn't meshsmooth it and am still having problems in trying to get KITT's lines in. You can view more pics here
clicky1 and
clicky2. Not gonna stick up more pics or it'll take forever to view unless you have broadband.
Might do another redesign once I get the hang of meshsmooth and other features in 3D max.

It'd be cool, but I don't know if I'll have the energy for another hyper-realistic KR model after this one. We'll see. I'd love to see it; then we could pair it with this or another KITT model.
Knight2000 - I'm not sure what your model's problem is ... but I still enjoy your it.

Does the scanner flash?

Oh and BTW, I need more images of the NON dash areas, like the front and back seats and the mats, etc. I can find reference for the dash itself. If you could find that stuff I'd greatly appreciate it
