Imagine Michael Knight time-traveled to 2022 and the Foundation built his new KITT out of a 2015 Civic!
As I said in another thread, ever since I saw the dash of the original KITT, I have tried to make the dash of almost every car I've owned emulate KITT's dash to the best of my abilities, budget, and available technology. Here is my latest conversion with my 2015 Honda Civic LX Coupe... Exterior2022....

Re: Kitt1982 vs kitt2008
In my opinion, automotive dash design begins and ends with the original 1982 KITT dash, or its later versions in the original series. To me, the 2008 KI3T was a disappointment. Once I saw that original dash in 1982, I was mesmerized and inspired, so that I attempted to make the dash of almost every ...

Re: The Knight Rider 2008 Constructive Criticism Thread
Some people say that this show needs to stand on it's own; that you can't keep comparing it to the original series. But we must remember, the name of this show is "Knight Rider." It can't be a carbon copy of the original series, but there must be strong ties, otherwise, you might as well c...

Re: THE CAR OF THE FUTURE
I like the show so far. I've watched the pilot and the three regular episodes. However, I gotta say that I like the original Trans Am more than the Mustang. And no, it has nothing to do with it being a Ford (I own a Ford) or anything like that. It's just the styling of the car, and really, it has le...

Re: Knight In Shining Armor? One Word: Terrible
Well, so far, I like it. Yes, I do have some minor complaints. My main issue is with the "nanotechnology" transformations. I realize that any show like this requires some suspension of disbelief, but to me, these transformations just take it too far. As far as I can tell, the show takes pl...

Re: Two Thousand / Three Thousand Comparison
How can they say that the original KITT didn't have an in-dash audio-video system? What were those screens to the right of the main gauges? And how about 360 degree video survailance? I distinctly remember Michael Knight, using the in-dash monitors, being able to watch an unscrupulious gas station a...

if your care came with an optional airbag and you removed it dont tell your insurance company unless you want your insurance to go sky high!! it is illegal to remove safety equipment from the car if it came from the factory. thats federal law. my advice, tell no one that you did this. or they will ...

I think that Firebirds and Camaros started coming equipped with driver side airbags around 1991 or so. As for the scanner, I guess it depends on where you live, but I know here in Florida, even a yellow scanner (which I have) would be illegal to use while driving. It's not just the color -- it's the...

When Knight Rider first aired and I wanted to make a scanner for my car, I came up with an idea: A motor spinning a contact that would touch a sequence of contacts in a circle. I only used seven lights, and if you number the lights, I had 12 contacts in the circle, numbered 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-6-5-4-3-2. ...

I only saw this TV movie once, when it originally aired in May of 1991. I remember thinking it was okay, though I would've liked to have seen more of the dash of the KI4000. However, I remember thinking that the mind-probe they were using was very far fetched. It was only supposed to take place 9 ye...

That's great! I love it! Did you design the electronics on those digital gauges yourself, or did you adapt them from something else? If they're from something else, what did you use? And is that a Compu-Cruise in the center console? Also, what does the keyboard on the overhead console do? I always l...

That's one of my concerns -- the driver's side airbag. I have a 2002 Ford Escort ZX2. I have modified its interior to be similar to KITT's, though it's certainly not an exact copy. If I ever decided to do a butterfly steering wheel, I'd probably just cut and modify the existing, air-bag equipped ste...

The "butterfly" style steering wheel
I like the way the butterfly/airplane yolk-style steering wheel looks, but I've always been reluctant to make this modification to any of my cars because I'm concerned about losing control of the car in an emergency. I could imagine trying to do a quick lane change, and then reaching for a part of t...

That Armitron watch looks like the one I have, but it looks like it's upside down inside the package in that picture. As for the walkie-talkie watches, I have one of those too! They sold them at WalMart for a little while, and I got one back then. In my car, I wired the alarm to an FRS walkie talkie...

For my car, I recorded a jet-type sound on an infinite-loop answering machine tape. It's a full-size cassette that can be played in an ordinary tape player. I mounted a small WalkMan-type tape player in the car and wired it to a small amp that goes to an outside speaker. The tape player and amp are ...

The design of any new KITT could go one of several ways. The original Trans Am is still a sleek, modern looking car, so they could just use the design, but maybe dress it up a bit with some side scoups and/or a spoiler. Or, they could go to a 4th gen Trans Am, though that may not work well because i...

I found it! However, I don't have a digital camera, so it'll be a little while before I can post a picture. It's by Armatron. I didn't see a model number. It just says radio alarm chronograph. It's a digital watch with a built-in AM radio! I had a watch that looked very similar to that, though not exactly like it. It wasn't supposed to be a Knight Rider prop; it was just a digital watch with an AM radio. Come to think of it, I got it around the summer of 1982, right before Knight Rider fi...
