DARPA Has A KITT!!

Post by FuzzieDice » Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:35 am

Someone (they aren't sure yet who) has won the yearly DARPA Autonomous Vehicle Challenge! Actually a few of them actually crossed the finish line, where last year they all failed within sight of the starting line.

Here's the article:

Robot vehicles conquer desert terrain race

This is cool... they think we'll have self-driving vehicles pretty soon! Heck with all that the automotive companies are doing with consumer cars these days, I wouldn't be surprised either!

Congrats to all the winners, especially CMU. I gotta cheer for my hometown! ;)

KITT: "No. I'm a tight end for the Chicago Bears!"

Same here, as I'm from pittsburgh as well. Here's another article with pictures about the race from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Congrats to Stanley! Way to Go, dude! :)

If only he could speak and say a few words. :)

He's one cute little car too. Now I can just see the movie offers pouring in for the poor car.

So good to see him win though. Definitely a breathrough. And congrats to the technicians too!

Here's a link to the web site for Stanley:

http://www.stanfordracing.com/

They have videos of Stanley there and everything. :)

As a suggestion, maybe some of us could email the team and congratulate them and let them know that some Knight Rider fans are interested in what they are doing and glad to see this technology come closer to reality! :) The email link is at the bottom of the Sponsor's page.
