Got mine about 2 months ago. Only issue is the band is rubber not a plastic. The original watch was based on a Star Wars watch AM radio.



This is an image of the one Michael Puette produced a decade or so ago. They went for $75 a piece. I like that he left the 3mm headphone jack as a nod to the original design it came from. His was a higher quality watch and band. Both couldn't allow you to turn the dial. It was for aesthetic purposes only.



I own 2 of these. One is in a case to preserve next to my 1/16th scale Joyride kitt also under a display case. The other in my drawer for everyday use.

The original watch was based on a Star Wars watch AM radio.

I don't believe the original was based on the Star Wars watch, although the Star Wars watch is the same design. Look at the date on the box of the SW watch - it says 1983.

That's an incredible find. I thought the watch for sure came from merchandise leading into the movie. I never even bothered to look at the date 1983. Thought it came around knight rider's premiere in 82 not 83.

It's been so long since that model came out i'm lucky i even remember the manufacturer was Ertl let alone the scale.

Here is a Star Wars radio watch that has a different image and says 1982:

So I suppose it's possible they got the idea to use that design from seeing a Star Wars watch, instead of an earlier radio watch with that design.
