How do they get the Ratings?

Post by GT500KR » Fri Oct 10, 2008 10:19 am

I been always confused how they get the ratings of a certain age group. Im 21 I watch the show by myself. What if there was 3+ people of different age groups watching the show together. How do they know what age group they are?

Neilsons has either given families diary books... or in the new age, set-top boxes that remember and send back data. If they have recorded that a Mom in her 40s and two kids in their teens live there, then if they watch KR that night, it gets a check box in each category.

If a family still has the oldfashioned diary book, they'll write down what they watched, when and who was there, then send that in every week.

Now, given the fact that I've never known anyone to be chosen by Neilsons, I have no clue how accurate they are.
