I just watched the new pilot for the third time and something occured to me about why it makes some sense that his friend/mechanic would appear.Niggle Snoosh wrote:Yeah i have to agree, i thought he was quite a likeable character from what we saw but KI3T surely needs someone better than an ordinary mechanic.Comtap wrote:I liked it but the acting needs to improve. and what the hell was Michael's old mechanic doing working on kitt at the end that was stupid.
Michael Long was shot in the face and left for dead in the Nevada desert, despite his survival he had to have extensive plastic surgery and recieved a new face and had to be given a whole new identity. This was to protect him from being killed all over again and he had to cut off from all contact with friends, family & partners etc as a part of this.
All Mike had (at least as far as the pilot leads us to believe) was his Mum and his best bud before the events of the pilot brought back his old flame/true love , as well as a possible onetime father figure (Charles) and his true father into his life. His Mum is now dead, Charles, Sarah and (hopefully) Michael are all connected to the new FLAG. However he doesn't need a new identity, so doesn't need to cut him self off from his friends but from what we gather he only has the one. Perhaps he just needs someone familar to help with adjust to his new life as a Knight Rider.
Michael Knight's situation made his existance a lonely one, perhaps Dylan's inclusion in the team was a suggestion from Mr Knight himself since he doesnt want his son to suffer from the life like he did.
Dylan didn't look like he really had a life without Mike so would gladly jump on board the program. Plus who would give up a chance to work with a car like KI3T
