If your point, Victor, is that there is a conflict of interest between present KR TV and future KR Movie, there really isn't one. There's no movie out to create a conflict. When there is, and KR movie and TV standees are next to one another in the theater, you may have a point to argue. In the meantime, all you can argue is it's bad form, which is pretty subjective. You can't argue that there's some motive here other than simply trying to promote a TV show.

And yes, I do hope the KR series is a success. And that means utilizing ANY kind of advertising that they feel is effective. You're the 4th place network, you have to think creatively about new ways to advertise.

My guess is, when the movie comes out, you will see lots of trailers for it during the KR series commercial breaks. I certainly won't be upset.

- Once again you miss the point entirely. My original comment was regarding television advertising vs. motion picture advertising with respects to standees in general. YOU made it into a Knight Rider: The Series vs. Knight Rider the Motion Picture issue and I responded accordingly.

Read my first post, no where in there does it say Knight Rider: The Series or Knight Rider the Motion Picture. My follow up post did mention how I felt about the standees as being subjective but you added your two cents about the matter taking it into a context it wasn't supposed to go then furthermore went on to take a cheap shot against the motion picture.

You don't see me saying something like "Yeah if your series even lasts a season" or "If the new series will even be around when the movie comes out." etc. etc. but you consistantly take jabs at the motion picture or Glen. I believe the worst thing I've ever said to you with respects to your "camp" is that you bet on the wrong pony.

My point had nothing to do with the motion picture itself until other people like you decided to involve it.

I've attempted to remain civil with you but you have this uncanny knack for getting on my bad side.

For the sake of peace at this point, I'm going to move on to more important matters. I said what I needed to say and at this point I'm tired of having to explain myself to people who don't understand me or take what I do for granted.

If you wish to discuss the subject further, by all means send me a PM.

My point is in my view television standees in general do not belong inside a movie theater lobby regardless of the subject matter. It sends a mixed message.
Well I don’t really feel that they are rivals because we can very easily see both… unless the movie only plays in theaters on Wednesday nights for some reason. But even if they were rivals, you don’t see Microsoft employees posting on Mac forums saying, “No fair you made a better commercial than ours.”
Probably instead they say to themselves, “hey maybe we can get some product placement in this new KR show.”
Besides forbidding competitors from competing isn’t that communism. Sure we have to put up with non stop advertising in a free market, but it’s worth it to be able to have a choice in what we buy. Why I was hiking in the wilderness the other day and came across a stand where they were handing out free samples of a new sports drink. I’d say that’s a rather new approach too. I’m sure it all has to do with the invention of TiVo.

I don't agree with your opinions for the reasons I (and others) have stated. I "get" what you have to say. No need to be insulting.

Victor... when I said "chill" I did not mean you... I meant it in general... but when you said that I need need to pay more attention if I wanted to talk about an advertising of a show which myself and I would say 99.9% of the other members here adore was quite a mean jab... I might not be involved with the NBC or GL project like some of us are... but that's no reason to make my observation seem like a stupid and uneducated one.

Thanks.

well, we get comercials for motion pictures on TV... and still there are lots of visitors in cinemas because they get the difference of cinema and TV.
there are absolutely no reasons why it wouldn't work the other way around.
and with the Knight Rider movie still a few years away i doubt anyone will confuse the movie with the new series. viewers aren't as stupid as some people might think!

I recall the 2-hour getting alot of attention in theaters aswell.
They even had that preview for it before the trailers before Cloverfield.
And another thing, they advertise TV shows all the time now in movies.

And I'm not at all opposed to TV spots getting time before a movie just like I'm not opposed at watching commercials of movies during my TV shows.
It's advertising. That's how they sell *?$#.

I recall watching the transformers cartoon with my little brother when the commerical for the transformer movie was about to play in theaters.
Hell, i was watching an episode of The Batman, when a commercial for the dark knight came on.

And both those examples are of a movie and a tv show, with 2 different stories/settings/timelines, both co-existing side-by-side in this little universe.

And I'm starting think that i'm probably not gonna bother with the new GL KR project, just because all the hoop-la between the movie and the new show. I think the series has a better Knight Rider concept than the movie, which all it is is the same thing we've already seen before, just updated. Quite frankly, i'm tired of those type of movies. There's no imagination anymore.

The series atleast is being original. That's why i'm gonna tune in every week.
Like GST said, it's gonna be a little KR movie every week. What more could you want than that?

Put the word out!
WATCH THE SHOW!!!: Wed at 8:00pm on NBC.
Its getting better and gaining ratings, AWESOME!!

What you "don't get" is that this subject is about STANDEES in a THEATER LOBBY. Not trailers, not tv spots, not the motion picture vs. the television series. That's what irritates me the most. Goldbug and Solid Snake It's not about saying you're dumb or stupid, it's about saying your going off on tangents that deviate from my original point.

That's why I tell you to pay closer attention and I have consistantly repeated the same point yet people seem to continue to neglect it and place it right back into a motion picture vs. television show context.

I keep trying to steer it back on topic, other people keep trying to derail it again. Honestly if you're offended by what I've said, you shouldn't be. You're reading too deep into things. The people I openly dislike are usually on my ignore list. I have no problems with the rest of you.

I'll publically apologize if you feel offended but I have always stressed if you have a problem, send me a PM before turning it into some public spectacle. Often people misunderstand what I'm saying for one reason or the other. As long as you're respectful, I'll give you a honest answer in a PM. If you blatantly attack or burn me, i'll ignore you.

I have yet to see someone justify why a standee for a television show belongs in a movie theater without someone dragging in "oh you're just pissed because Larson this and NBCU that", you don't consider the topic in general. I understand about advertising and whatnot but this particular instance with standees isn't "common place".

In general I have not up to this point seen a television show STANDEE show up in a motion picture theater. For me it feels disrespectful to movies in general. There has always been (up until now) a mutual respect between where studios advertise their products and where they do not.

My comments about trailers and commercials were not related to the standee topic itself. Those were used in a context to show how in my view, television is invading a place I personally don't feel it should be allowed to.

Fact is, it has invaded the sanctity of the movie theater experience and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it, it's just another sign of times changing. It shouldn't be a friggin crime to feel that way but apparently when I have a disagreement about something I guess everyone else seems to be "ok" with, I'm the bad guy.

Condemn me for pining for better times if you must but in the end I know some people out there will agree.

As far as my opinion about the standee situation in regards to being placed in a television series vs. motion picture context, I've said how I feel about that subject and I'm not changing that position.

Faithful Car KRO - your comment about having seen the same crap on the screen, I can understand that but believe me when I tell you no one has any concievable idea what specifically is being planned for the motion picture re-imagining of Knight Rider or it's "concept" so please with all due respect don't be so quick to catagorize it with the other spinoff/sequels/shoddy remakes out there.

Somethings are sacred and should not messed with and for me childhood memories and experiences is one of them.

Anyway I hope you have a better understanding of where I'm coming from and feel better. I'm not your enemy, I'm not here to make you feel stupid or to make myself feel superior to you. If you've chosen to become an enemy that's a whole other matter but utlimately forums are for freedoms of expression and friendly differences of opinion.

I can agree to disagree.

VK, I understand you were talking about standees. I'm just going to agree to disagree with you on it. :) As neps has requested, I won't discuss the matter of debate further in this thread.

Now, to address the standee itself - I haven't seen the life sized one with Justin. Has anyone seen it in NYC or in NJ? I'd love to get a shot with that! Esp. if the lights move!

Regarding the one already pictured in the thread, what I really dig about it is the light that strobes where the explosion is happening. It really gives it a dynamic look. I'm really impressed by how "all out" NBC is going on KR considering venues like scifi and G4 have dumped on the show. They're really showing some confidence here and it makes me really happy as not just a KR fan but also a scifi fan to see a show of this type get so much attention.

Ah back on topic, thank you for that. Yes I was wondering if there are Justin ones out there...
It’s really cool that they light up. I didn’t get to see the one I posted with the lights on. Maybe someone can get a movie of it with their cell phone. I asked permission to take pictures and at the first theater I was told to go ahead but at another they said something about needing permission in advance.
