82 convertable?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-Tra ... dZViewItem
Found this on ebay today, it looks like it has the rare 82 shift knob even!
My question is was there any TA convertables that came out in that year or is it someone's own modification?
Thanks guys ^^

I was gonna post about it on the Registries, but the board is down.
It can be a dealer installed option. It can also be installed by a shop who wanted one done. But it's a pretty nice car nonetheless.

Yeah, like Sam said these were dealer options till 91, I beleive when GM offically brought the convertable back. Also a lot of dealers had hardtops converted into t-tops by local shops, because factory t-tops were not to plentiful during the early days of the 3rd gen. Not to sure about the quality of the convertables, but the after market t-top conversions were pretty much hack jobs and were prone to leaking.
KITT project is on again!

Did you get the inspection done on your car yet? Any knight parts installed?

I have not bid on it. I rather have a season 1/2 to be honest, I have never really fancied convertables.TurbomanKnight wrote:Did you get the inspection done on your car yet? Any knight parts installed?
Ten to one I am going to get a T/A out of Southren CA, since I am here in Fresno.
Besides, no undercarage cancer from salting of the roads.

You know, this thread really makes me want to do a convertible replica. I'm the type of guy that likes to go against the grain a lot (I got so used to it I embraced it), and it seems there's just countless K.I.T.T.s and not enough Convertible Modes or two-tone K.A.R.R.s. I'm even still waiting for the day that someone puts together a replica SPM car, and no, not the "Knick Rider" one that was sold by Barris recently.
I kind of decided that I would want to do a two-tone car with the nose from Knight Passions (the only accurate seasons 1-3 nose there is, in my opinion) but now not so sure. A Convertible Mode seems the most practical and a perfect "weekend" car. I just hope that I don't have my mid-life crisis by the time I can afford to put money into a project like that. (Saving money is easier said than done.) A guy can dream...

I finally got an inspection sticker yesterday to be exact. The car was in the shop from June until now because it wouldn't pass emissions. I was quite surprised being that is was 92. It came from Florida where there is no inspection at all.
I do have Todd's old nose but haven't even open it up to see what it looks like because of the move and the fact the car has been in the shop all summer.
I was more focused on herbie this summer and having him displayed at theaters but it is time to give Kitt attention again.

Sweet, Becky! I want to lie in FL so badly. Have all my cars without the horsepower robbing emissions control.

I'll be getting a 3/4 nose here soon so I'm tempted to have my roof chopped since I have the dreaded incorrect hardtop.
I'm researching how to get the tonneau cover for it. Right now to my knowledge the only place advertising them is Copper and I think Mark. One'll rip you off the other will bankrupt you .

Mine will be a Kitt convertible..At first I wanted to do the t-top because that is how people most remember Kitt and when I tell people the car will be Kitt, people tell me "But Kitt wasn't a convertible"
I will still keep the backseats so my kids can ride.It won't be an exact replica like my Herbie is but it will have that Kitt spirit. After seeing alot of different ways people have made their cars into Kitt made me feel more comfortable in that I don't have to have an EXACT replica..
