Die Cast K.A.R.R Value

Post by ac4li » Sun Nov 25, 2012 10:16 am

Does anyone know what the value of an unopened Ertl (JoyRide) K.A.R.R. 1/18th Die Cast is?
I see one on Amazon for $1200, is this correct?

Just because that's what they're asking, doesn't mean that's what it's worth. Frankly, I was disappointed with the paint job on the K.A.R.R. 1/18 diecast. They didn't have the silver paint going over the wheel well like it's supposed to. I'm hoping Mattel will eventually do a KARR version of their new 1/18 KNIGHT RIDER. I talked to the Mattel rep about it at the Los Angeles event. I mentioned the correct paint scheme to him.

I would say that is way over priced. On eBay they go between $200-$400 usually, I got mine for $150 brand new.

Have a look on ebay as a price guide,
use the advanced search feature and look at complete auctions,

that tells you what people actually paid for them, not the prices people are asking for them.

I would have put the value at around $100-200

This is how KARR should be, unfortunately selling him and KITT to pay for the Elite version of KITT when its released.

Goes to show you. If you have the means, buy them when released! I bought my KITT's and KARR's for $30 each. Actually, the reason I have 2 KARR's is because I dropped one on the floor and damaged it. So I bought another for $30 (at the time) and am keeping the other for now. I'm thinking of painting it white (Junk Yard Dog).

Hopefully the KARR that Hot Wheels will do in 1/18 scale will have the silver paint going over the wheel well like the real one did. No doubt, the ERTL 1/18 KARR was a disappointment. It seemed like a half hearted attempt from Ertl.. They even left out the KARR license plate! I think the one Aoshima did using the same Ertl mold that they released at the same time with the ERTL KITT was better. Even though it came complete with the KARR license plate, it was still missing the silver paint over the front wheels. Paint quality looks better than the Ertl one though. Overall, I'm guessing the Aoshima KARR is worth more than the ERTL KARR.

My Aoshima KARR below....
