KITT could well end up a Ford (TKR + Thunderbirds)
Since watching TKR and then hearing about Knight Rider: The Movie, i have believed Kitt could well end up being a Ford and perhaps a Mustang, although Ford may use a new car.
The producers may see Ford as a good choice as it is an American brand rather than using a European car such as a Honda.
I have also thought Ford may get the contract for KR as they have a contract with the Thunderbirds Movie and for those who don't know, Lady Penelope has 3 cars in the movie:
1. Her big Pink limo (is a customised Ford Thunderbird with 6 wheels)
2. A regular Pink Ford Thunderbird
3. A Pink Ford StreetKA
I was thinking it would be interesting to see Kitt in something like a production version Ford GT90 as in my opinion that is one hell of a nice car!

What is it with you guys and Fords? I mean, I know that they used Fords in TKR, but that's not enough to actually have a lot of hatred towards Ford. Ford has made a lot of American classics. And I also agree that the GT90 is a very good looking car (though I would rather see KITT in the prototype 2004 Mustang GT).
Sorry if it seems that I am snapping at you guys, but I don't understand why you guys dislike Ford. I mean, my dad drives 1973 Ford F-100 that has pulled nearly every other vehicle to my house (that includes junkers and cars that we have that have had problems), as well as a 1965 Ford Mustang still in the works. Ford isn't as bad as you guys think.
Of course, this is all my opinion. I don't know what your past is with Ford vehicles, but not all Fords are bad.

Personally, I've absolutely nothing against Ford motor cars in general. I just don't think KITT would
suit being built into a Ford in the upcoming movie. As it happens, my dad currently drives a diesel,
red, "L" reg Ford Mondeo, and I think it's a very good car, considering it's almost ten years old!

Well here in New Zealand (and australia too) there has been a huge rivalry between Fords and Holdens since the beginning of time. What is it with you guys and Fords? I mean, I know that they used Fords in TKR, but that's not enough to actually have a lot of hatred towards Ford
I would have to say that a company doesn't get a bad rap for nothing. Fords are known to be problematic (in the southern hemisphere anyway) hence the dislike towards fords...
Of corse this only applies to New Zealand and Australia.... in the US, the car calture is different.

Well, that doesn't really count much. A dealership and the technicians at a dealership aren't connected to Ford as a whole. I mean, a dealership is like McDonalds. Companies supply the meat, buns and whatnot for their fast food. It's the same way with Ford and dealerships. Ford HQ supplies the dealerships with vehicles to sale.
And some of Ford's vehicles have proven to take a licking and keep running, like a Timex. Again, to use an example, my dad Ford F-100. The body has been rusted up, bondoed and looks like it would most likely fall apart. But the truck itself runs and doesn't fall apart because it is still in good condition under the surface (to put it better, it's like riding in one that is fully restored). And, like I said before, it's pulled every vehicle we have at our house well over two times (each vehicle), and the only time it has ever had a problem was when the radiator belt broke (which didn't take long to replace). It's a tank, but it proves that some of the Fords, depending on make and model, are in fact "Ford tough".
And has anyone actually seen the concept for the 2004 Mustang GT? It looks great to me and it reminds me of the older style Mustangs.

Yeah, I have to admidt I am pretty excited about the new Mustangs. Guess Ford gunning for the Vette now that they don't have to worry about the F-body anymore. My aunt gets a new Mustang every few years or so. She's had an 89, 94, and 00. Although the 94 and 00 didn't compare anywhere near the power of her 89, she says they are good cars. Even though her 89 and 94 developed the trademark Ford oil leak!
KITT project is on again!

I wholeheartedly agree, I hope not!DJGM2002 wrote:Ye gods no! KITT must NOT be a Ford!
This is a good point as well. Ford DOES top the imports...but i sure as hell hope that it doesn't come to that.I'd rather not see it, but if it stops them from using an import...

Yes, the Saleen S7 is the fastest car (at least in acceleration). It put Americans back on top after defeating the European-made former leader, the McLaren F1.SPEEDBREAKER wrote:HI, I DO NOT LIKE FORDS MY SELF BUT HOW ABOUT A SALEEN S7.
I SAW IT ON A MAGAZINE COVER AND IT SAID IT WAS THE FASTES CAR
TESTED. PAINT IT BLACK CHOP A HOLE IN THE FRONT .STICK THAT SCANNER IN THE FRONT AND YOU GOT A KICK A$$ K.I.T.T.
McLaren F1 [0-60]-3.4 seconds
Saleen S7 [0-60]-3.3 seconds.
What's kinda funny is that the Saleen won but is $400,000 cheaper than the McLaren.
But they need many makes of the same car for the KITTs that do all the Turbo Boosting and stunt scenes, and the KITTs that are all pretty for the close-up shots. The Saleen is just too expensive.

They could buy one. Make some molds from it . Kind of like they did for the movie THE WRAITH .Get a little CGI help from ILM. As for ground clearince (whom ever keeps griping about it)air shocks with those spikey tires like in the one show with the motor cycles. I think it was or was it that one with the off road dune buggys to Mexico.

Addition to Speedbreaker's info- The car they used in "The Wraith" was in fact a prototype by Dodge called the Turbo Interceptor (which costed at the time $6 million to make). There were six "clones" of the car made (which totalled to $1 million dollars per "clone"). All six clones were destroyed during the making of the film. As for what happened to the original prototype Turbo Interceptor, I don't know.
