I was looking through the catalog for a place called "Dick Smith"
http://www.dse.com.au and searched Knight Rider to see if they were selling the DVD's yet and I saw something interesting. A Knight Rider remote control car with sound effects lights, scanner and voice. I was going down there anyway to get a new webcam so I thought I would have a look and I was really impressed with it. I thought it was going to be some random voice but it was actually the one from the show and it says "I am KITT, who you may regard as the voice of the Knight 2000". It also has the scanner noise and an idling engine noise. It is also quite fast. It's scale is 1:16. As you can see in the photo below of it next to the 1:18 ERTL KITT.

That is a really great find... How much is the cost, and where can I get one?

I have one other question.. I went to that link, but it is for Australian orders, is there anywhere in the U.S.A I can order one? International price is a little expensive for me.

That looks way cool, shame about the aerial though, the smaller radio control KITT I have doesn't have a aerial.
What is the turbo boost feature?

If you don't like the aerial you can take off the plastic and hide it inside the body, you would probably loose a bit of range though.
Yes, the turbo boost feature drives KITT faster. It goes pretty fast already. Its great fun to drive, I always have to clean it off afterwards though because all r/c things will catch hair or dust on the ground.
And Markus, if you haven't got one I recommend you look for one because its an easy modification if you want to add white LED's for driving lights because it already has lenses for them. There are two lights on the far left and far right that light up but they are orange, still looks great though.

Hi y'all. Not been on the site due to lack of internet....currently trying to get sky broadband. Anyway I phoned up Hitari about the car....friendly bunch of people and really helpful. The car is being shipped on the 24th of September to the UK. Costs is 29.99 GBP (no bloody pound signs on this keyboard
) It'll be stocked by Comet and Next stores. They said it should take about a couple of weeks for the shipment to filter through to the stores. I'm thinking about getting a couple (one box and one to annoy my sister with!).

Wow that looks amazing! Except for it big front lip it looks really accurate, even more accurate than the model used in the 80's for some stunts. I wish we had it for sale here.

Its a good thing it has the front lip otherwise you could damage the nose. Be careful when driving. You can take the lip off if you want.

I too would like a few of these babys to turn into KARR etc.
I think the lip on the front will be the first thing to go though

Went into DSE today in Chatswood and they had 2 of the Cars there. Decided to pick one up. Wow how exciting it is to see Knight Rider in the store. Anyway cost $59.95. The PDF on the site pretty much gives all the extra info.

I have really boosted their sales haven't I! I should advertise there General Lee one on a Dukes of Hazzard Forum.
I did a modification to it today. I changed the yellow LED's to white ones. I don't recommend you try to unless you know exactly what your doing.

Actually I had noticed it earlier in the week which prompted me to come back here and take a look and let everyone know... BUT you guys are quick and on to it before I could bubble on about seeing KR in the DSE.

If you haven't noticed already they also have a Knightrider Scanner Kit. Which is lots of led's you solder down and you can change the speed of their movement. I made it a while ago.

Hey James.. is there a way to turn the speaker down? it's damn loud [when it's moving over a hard surface like tiles or wood flooring].. I was actually thinking that it could be good to modify it with a better quality speaker with more voice options..

Could someone post more pics of the RC KITT, how it looks from behind, does it have flat or bubble tail light cover, how the foglights look like, the scanner, etc. closeup pics of the details.

Yeah lol it does have a loud speaker. Modifying it could be tricky though. You could always add another voice chip to it and put in the turbine sound.
KITTfan -
If you have the ERTL 1:18 its pretty much the same except bigger. It has a bubble tail light cover. No Knight Plate though which is a shame. The design is the same as the ertl one basically.
