I contacted Aoshima awhile back when this model originally came out. Its voiced by the actor who dubbed KITTs voice in Japan.....so its going to be talking Japanese. ERTL cant seem to be bothered by asking Aoshima for the voice chip design. It is still the ERTL mould so a English voice chip version is viable.....its just upto ERTL to decide if its profitable.

you can go to radioshack and buy one of these units for around $12. it comes with a little speaker and mic. it runs off a 9 volt battery. you can record it to say what ever you want. the only downside is that you would have to remove the base off your 1:18 KITT to install it. it is very easy to do and well worth the $12. i forget how many seconds of recording time it has. i only have kitt introducing himself on mine.
i will see if i can dig up the part # on radioshack.com

Look at the box
Not entirely sure if this is the voice version but nicely presented.

funnier thing is when I go back to the original page it says the same thing. Then I reload, the picture is back up. Must be a cache thing. I've e-mailed joyride to find out why we are not getting the "woo woo" version of KITT!

Hello Sarfraz,
While the USD$83.00 Aoshima model is impressive, it's much more expensive than the JoyRide model, which usually retails for $30 or less. I'm sure some collectors are willing to pay $50 more for a talking car, but our collectors are happy with a $30 non-talking KITT with moving sensor lights.
Thanks for writing!
-Chris
In other words, no talking KITT for us....want to argue e-mail:

80 $ for an talking KITT model???
Like pewter 02ws6 said, the voicechip cost about 12$ and it`s very simple to install. And you can record every sound that YOU want.
My KITT model has 2 voicechips. They are connected with the 2 original buttons. With one KITT can introducing himself and the second you can hear the startup sequence and the scanner sound.
The elec. parts cost 20$ and about 0,5 hours to install them.
There is no reason to pay 80$ for such a model!

Juggernaut30 to quote the great Tommy Callahan the III or Tommy Boy to his friends.
"That................was AWESOME!"
That has to be the coolest thing anybody has done to that car, I thought it should have had those features from the factory. You forgot something on the 1/18 the recesses in the rims are still silver, that was one of the first things I did to my 1/18 KITT, made a WORLD of difference in the model .

Not really....it`s an "old" video!Dave Knight wrote: You forgot something on the 1/18 the recesses in the rims are still silver, that was one of the first things I did to my 1/18 KITT.
Well,my KITT model is now a "Extrem-KITT"
I customized every part of it.
It has 2 Soundchips, lightup foglights, lightup rearlights, lightup dashboard, the hatch has now tan color and the t-tops.
At the moment my livingroom looks like the garage at universal studios.
It`s a nice hobby to customize those models.
So I think it`s very funny to pay 80$ for such a model with only 1 soundchip.

How in BLOODY hell did you pull off the tails like that . And I LOVE your KNIGHT plate, its WAY better than the one I had made up, the reg/inspction stickers sell it. Would you be willing to make one of them up for my KITT?

We have a guy here in germany who make these license plates.
He can also make every plate from every country.
And they only cost about 2$.
Well...you must be crazy enough to cut a new model into pieces! How in BLOODY hell did you pull off the tails like that
By the way...that is KITT`s front.

I thought about that, but to send it around the world it would be too expensive!jjsocrazy wrote:Would you be considering selling a model just like that, that is very very very nice!!!! I want one!!!!
So I only build them for the german market.
Such a custom KITT would cost with: foglight, rear lights,2 voicechips, lightup dashboard and voicebox, other scanner and other little things about 150 Euro`s ( 180$).
At the moment i`m working on 3 models. My hobbyroom looks like the universal garage in the 80s.
What song do you mean?? The KR theme??Where can I get the theme song, its sounds really good, diff from the original
