On the TV show side of things maybe this could have been used for uploading programs to KITT?

There was an episode in which Bonnie or April was working inside Kitt and was holding a floppy disc, although we never saw it being inserted in the drive. I think it was in Season 1 or 2, in which there were different lower consoles...

I dose look like a floppy disk drive. Today, it would be a CD-Rom drive.

In season 2 Goliath ,april installed a floppy into kitt just above his monitors!
,if you have the dvd and you get to the part were kitt is being repaired and you slow down the picture ,you can see were april installs the disc!

I wonder if there'd be enough room for real floppy disk drive in the centerconsole since those old floppy disks were 5 1/4" wide. Maybe the more modern 3,5" could've been fit there but the 5 1/4" floppy disks were the most common ones at the time. I'm not sure if the 3,5" ones were even invented yet in 1983.
Today, KITT would have to have the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD driver installed and of course, USB memory stick sockets, memorycard readers etc.

Nay, it would be just too out-dated for Kitt. He had technology back in the 80's which is only partly available by now. The Kitt of today needs some isolinear or holographic data modules

Thats the season 3/4 center console.
Not season 2.
Funny, if you look too, there is no drivers/passenger seats. Anyone
who has one of these cars will notice the two seats seats bump
up to the sides of the console, this picture you can see right to
the carpet. Also in some shots you will see there is no dash
siting on top of the support. Usually when they show the car shifting
itself. Stage props.

Correct this is the 3/4 Console I took this from the ep: The Scent of the Roses.
I noticed something interesting too it does look a bit like the seat is there is may have been furthur back of something but if you look at the bottom kind of part it looks like its sitting on wood or something i thought i could see a nail there. Its a bit disturbing.

That certainly looks like a "state-of-the-art, circa 1982" Alpine brand tape deck as well.
I'm diggin' the array of Star Trek-vibe multi-colored buttons above the floppy-disk drive too.

I always wondered why KITT never used CDs whereas Airwolf was shown being able to record on to CDs.

Yeah, considering CD's were available as far back as 1983. They were on the expensive side then, but they were definitely around.
