1/18 Model KITT Video

Post by James_kr » Wed May 10, 2006 6:59 am

Hi Everyone,
I made a video with my ERTL RC2 KITT MODEL. Its just a little short film using snapshots the first video is just sort of a practice one the second one is the main full version (but your better off watching the first one first)

FIRST VIDEO:
http://www.jamille.bigpondhosting.com/K ... orsche.wmv

SECOND VIDEO:
http://www.jamille.bigpondhosting.com/KnightRider2.wmv

If anyone has any idea's on how to make this better. Also I encourage you to make one yourself and post it I used Windows Movie Maker

That Looks cool James, its a shame that you couldn't have the scanner on though i can see why.

You may want to check out my episodes.

This one only has KARR as i only had him at the time http://media.putfile.com/Knight-Rider-- ... NS-smaller

This one contains KITT and KARR, but the next should be even better as i've got some more sound f/x. http://media.putfile.com/knight-Rider---Two-of-a-Kind

J-Knight I loved your video of KARR reprogrammed and all that! I have to get with it and make my KITT and KARR models sometime. I just haven't had time. You done an awesome job! I did see your hand a couple times in the scenes but not too bad. :)

I hope you do more of these. I enjoyed these!

I especially like how KARR kinda reverts back to his old voice at the very end. VERY SPOOKY! ;)

@J-Knight
I liked your video's a bit blurry but I can understand that getting close up can sometimes require a macro or some well done photography.
I loved the way you just see KITT or KARR go flying past that was funny. I also thought where KITT turbo boosted it was funny cause he went straight up for a second.
One more thing to deal with visible hands you can use strings that's how I made the turbo boost here

Great work with the KARR voice I agree with fuzziedice that's a cool change.

Well, this wasn't what I had thought about for the use of the 1/18 KITT for fan-made videos, but its a start. Most of earlier special effect sequences in movies were stop-motion. And with the advent of digital cameras, it's possible to do a stop-motion KITT short ala "Robot Chicken".

Thanks for all comments Guys. Yeah i know my hand was in afew shots in the opening title but that is due to be re-made now i have KITT.
Bad cam = Bluryness  LOL

Not sure when the Continuation will be. Got a short clip i'm about to start work on for KITT-Rulz. You may have read the thread.

Actually the short clip is a car race so sort of like yours James! :D

Oh another thing, I did use strings in afew scense in the opening credits but not at the end because i just hoped i could get my hand out in time :D

lol cool... i have the 1:18 kitt, but i want to get karr as well,

i would probably end up making some sort of display where they are both pointed nose to nose in mid air ala kitt vs karr final head on scene...

Hmmm.....when you are a car mechanic and you`ve got too much time,i see no problem! :D :D

It`s quite easy to fit a voice chip into KITT/KARR.
For my models i use a voice recorder chip (15 Euro).I bought it in our elec store.
And then i connected a mini led for the voice box at the speaker.

And it will only "cost" 3 hours of work.

Juggernaut30 - Awesome work! :) Only, KARR's Voice should have been Paul Frees for that version, from when he was introducing himself to John... "You're right I'm not a car. I'm the Knight Automated Roving Robot. KARR, if you prefer." :)

Great job on the voice chips and stuff. I'm always fascinated with how people are modding the 1:18 diecasts to be more accurate and do cool things.

I just wish there were ways to light up and mod a 1:24. But that IS rather small... I'm doing 1:24 kits.

Juggernaut30 you should make a new version but you will probably need a better camera also try to disguise the area a bit instead of being able to see the door make it so it looks like something else like a play how there is a backdrop print a picture maybe i think i might try that

cool try to use a method like freeze frames how i did for a start its a good way of making it look good without hands to see or the little mistakes in the movie. They are great fun to make.

God those models look fantastic imagine I wonder if you could sell the designs to ERTL and make money from it.

Its great love that startup noise the turbines good but i think its sounds a bit ringy but that might just be because of the video so it probably sounds fine for you
