1984 TA stock tachometer problems

Post by Formfirebird23 » Sun Sep 21, 2014 6:57 pm

I have an 84 TA 305 700r4. The tachometer is not working. I have traced it down to the large resistor on the circuit board on the back of the tach. It looks like the color bands are red black black and silver. Its burnt pretty good so I am not sure. Does anyone know what size resistor i need. Not going off the colors i have listed but can anyone tell me what the value of the resistor by measuring theirs (assuming your gauge is out)? Anyhelp would be appreciated. Took burnt resistor to radio shack but they were no help. Thanks in advance for any help.

Wouldn't it be 2 ohms?
red = 2
black = 0
black = 0
silver = 0.01

200 x 0.01 = 2

Radio Shack's of today are mostly the 7-11's of the electronics field. So few of them that had anything in common with the Radio Shack's of the 1980's, still exist. Your probably going to have to find a web site that ships electronic parts like that. At least, when dealing with single parts, the overall transaction should be super cheap.
