Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
Hi guys,
As an avid Need for Speed fan, I found out today that the Ford Shelby GT500KR will feature in the newest instalment of the franchise, so I’d like to get every ones thoughts on the possibility of us holding a contest of sorts that would see us attempting to recreate the screen used hero and attack cars, along with the possibility of designing our own to be put to the vote in a knockout style competition.
Of course, this will be limited to those of us that are able to either post our own pictures, or provide a formula to someone who would be willing to recreate your creation, but having seen some of the things that we’ll be able to do in this game, I’d imagine we could have a lot of fun setting up some classic Knight Rider style moments on the open highway, so let me know what you think, and feel free to chime in with any ideas that you may have.

I'm happy to see NFS returning to its roots. The last few games have been too rushed and not really been any good.

I'll be getting it for the PS3 bud.weeezl wrote:You getting it on PS3,360 or PC?
Ironically, my experience can be blamed on the Fast and the Furious, as I joined the series at the first Underground. At the time, I was into the Tuner culture thanks to the film, so I was looking for something that would allow me to visually customize my cars. Thankfully, by the time Most Wanted came out, that fad had worn off, and subsequently, I barely even touched the cars I built to use in Rockport. Most Wanted also marked the first steps of my shift over to American cars, since the Underground games only had the Dodge Neon and Pontiac GTO to choose from. Of course, I did take one step backwards in ProStreet by having a Nissan GT-R in my stable along with every American car in the game. What can I say, the things a beast on the tight and twisty circuits.Knight-Armen wrote:I've been a huge fan of Need For Speed ever since they gave out Hot Pursuit 2 and today I happily own a copy of each and every single game in the series!
So, anyone have any thoughts on how we can use this to our advantage? I’m thinking maybe have daily or by-daily themed contests for things like simulating Turbo Boost’s since I know that there are going to be spots on the Tri-City map that will allow us to jump the car. Also, and whilst I know this isn’t strictly Knight Rider, perhaps we could incorporate the idea of the Need for Speed character being an undercover cop into the idea of Michael and KITT being undercover, so we can capture things like chases with the cops, since we know that the new Michael and KITT could easily end up in a situation like that at some point given their top secret mission protocols?

ProStreet was as smooth as a baby's bottom on the PS3. The main problem with the PC version of each Need for Speed game is that they're built to compete with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, so with each new game, comes a whole new set of specifications, rendering many PC's that were perfect for the previous title almost entirely useless without significant hardware upgrades. It's the nature of the beast unfortunately.

Re: Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
OK guys,
I need a bit of a hand with this. From what we’ve learnt thus far, we know that Need for Speed Undercover will feature a “heroic driving engine” that will allow the laws of physics to all but go out of the window at times. It’s also been revealed that this gaming engine will allow high speed stop and reverse gearing, which can culminate in Michael Knight styled 180° turns to escape/confront the danger that’s upon us. It’s also been revealed that high speed 180° and 360° turns will be possible when the situation calls for it. Also, harking back to Carbon, there will be incomplete road sections and/or high-rise dead ends that will allow NOS fuelled jumps that will almost certainly be able to simulate some of the most incredible Turbo Boost styled stunts that we’ve seen on TV over the years.
So, I’m going to break down my ideas into bullet points, and I’d like you guys to either add to my list, or tell me if I’ve suggested something you don’t like, since I’m pretty sure that I’ve barely even scrapped the surface of possibilities.

Faux TV Hero KITT
• Build a reasonable facsimile of the TV hero KITT, and take photos of it doing Knight Rider styled stunts so that you can enter it into a number of knockout contests.
Personal Hero KITT
• Build your own version of the hero KITT, and take photos of it doing Knight Rider styled stunts so that you can enter it into a number of knockout contests.
Faux TV Attack KITT
• Build a reasonable facsimile of the TV attack KITT, and take photos of it doing Knight Rider styled stunts so that you can enter it into a number of knockout contests.
Personal Attack KITT
• Build your own version of the attack KITT, and take photos of it doing Knight Rider styled stunts so that you can enter it into a number of knockout contests.
Monthly Contests
• Have the winning KITT’s from each contest go head to head for monthly supremacy within their own category, whilst also then seeking overall glory.
Show and Shine Contests
• Place side votes for notable designs to be entered into a show and shine contest that pits all forms of KITT against one another in a specially selected location where the emphasis would be on the car blending into its surroundings.

This looks its gonna be a cracker, Pro Street was pants and it appears they are going back to the previous formula that worked.
This will definately be on my games to buy list, the multiplayer modes sound cool too, fancy getting your butt kicked?

Excellent ideas Matthew! The PC version will most probably include a button for screenshots (possibly F12) as well, which is a good way to make the perfect captures!Personal Hero KITT

I hope they'll have a photo mode avaliable so that you can turn the camera at whatever angle you wish and capture the car at that instant.

Re: Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
Yeah, the good news is that baring any unforseen technical problems, there will definitely be a Photo Mode option available in Undercover, so we should be able to take some decent pictures thankfully, although I dare say you'll be at an advantage since I'll have to make sure my PSN account is still linked to my EA account, since I seem to recall checking my ProStreet progress once or twice before I completed it.
A friend of mine suggested that for the personal versions of KITT, that we open it up to more than just the GT500KR. What do you think, keep it limited to the Shelby, open it up a little bit, but limit it to US cars like the Camaro and the Challenger, or open it up entirely to everything that isn't a sedan or a hatchback?

Re: Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
Actually I think both options are very interesting but for starters I think the first one is really what we should get to work with. Let's go for the american muscle cars like the Mustang, the Camaro, the Callenger and maybe even the Pontiac GTO to begin with and perhaps later if people are still into this we can extend the competition to something similar that of the second option.A friend of mine suggested that for the personal versions of KITT, that we open it up to more than just the GT500KR. Your ideas are great Matthew and I'll be looking forward to initiate this challenge once the game is avaliable for purchase! Let's bring Knight Rider into the world of Need For Speed

Re: Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
Thanks bud,
Yeah, I think you’re right about limiting it to begin with, and then opening things up a little once we’re further down the road.
The really good thing is that if and/or when we do open up the contest to more widespread creations, we’ll still have two categories that are specific to the Shelby since the hero and attack categories for the TV cars will have to remain as that model unless KITT uses an additional form as the series progresses.
By the way, have you seen anything of any GM branded cars in the media that’s been released for Undercover yet, because I haven’t, and I’m starting to wonder if we may experience the removal of another well known brand like we did with Nissan’s removal from Most Wanted?

Well, as far as I know these are the cars produced by GM:By the way, have you seen anything of any GM branded cars in the media that’s been released for Undercover yet, because I haven’t, and I’m starting to wonder if we may experience the removal of another well known brand like we did with Nissan’s removal from Most Wanted?
--> Buick
--> Cadillac
--> Chevrolet

Cadillac CTS-V
Chevrolet Camaro Concept
Chevrolet Camaro SS
Chevrolet Cobalt SS
Chevrolet Chevelle SS
Chevrolet Corvette C6
Pontiac Firebird
Pontiac GTO
Pontiac Solstice GXP
The cars on the list down below are not officially announced by EA yet they have been reviewed on trailers and screenshots (again, I simply list those by GM as you requested):
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Also, note that the 2008 Shelby GT500KR is still unannounced!
Nissan will be avaliable according to the car list:
(announced)
Nissan GT-R Proto
Nissan 240 SX
Nissan 350Z
Nissan Skyline R34
Nissan Silvia
(unannounced)
1993 Nissan 240SX (S13)
2009 Nissan 370Z
1999 Nissan Silvia S15
1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)
Hope this clears everything!

Re: Ford Shelby GT500KR to feature in Need for Speed Undercover
You're welcome Matthew!
I agree! The Z06 is a must and they simply can't ignore it. I haven't been able to see it on a trailer yet as they've announced this quite recently and some of the footage is very hard to find at this point but I'll find it somehow and when I do I'll embedd the link in one of my posts.
As for the GM cars, some of them are avaliable on screenshots and some on trailers and what not. I recommend you to visit NFSUnlimited: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/splash" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, for trailers you should visit: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/undercover/videos" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and for screenshots: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/index.php?p ... ens&page=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (all on NFSUnlimited). Unfortunately though, there aren't that much on GM cars. I'm sure they will turn up in a matter of days.
I found something quite interesting on NFSUnlimited as I was looking for updates and well... it's all here if you wish to find out for yourself: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/article/undercover_preview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Basically they filmed a number of scenes from the game in real life from Hollywood and applied it along with the digital effects to which it resulted in a unique look. It's all ovious when you read it!
Whether the Pontiac GTO is like the '65 Nate Denver or the Holden Monaro I have absolutely no info about to tell you the truth...

Phew, you saw my reply before I managed to delete most of it whilst paging backwards on that tab.
Funnily enough, I’m actually a member at NFS Unlimited, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t out of the loop when it comes to keeping up with their updates. I’ll have to delve into everything the guys have put together over there, and see if it answers any more of my lingering questions.

I quiet liked Pro Street actually. The feeling of racing in the different environments along with the extensive damage model made it a thoroughly unique experience, and if I'm honest, after suffering through the technical gremlins of Carbon, something different was needed so that we could all take a step back, and recognise what worked beforehand without being angry at experiencing another slew of intensive Carbon style glitches.weeezl wrote:This looks its gonna be a cracker, Pro Street was pants and it appears they are going back to the previous formula that worked.
That sounds like fighting talk young man. In response to such bravado, I will have to insist we engage in a duel, Matto-e-Matto if you will, with the lady folk having the opportunity to pick their Matt.weeezl wrote:This will definately be on my games to buy list, the multiplayer modes sound cool too, fancy getting your butt kicked?

Welcome aboard the Knight 2000.
Thank you. What's all this, it looks like Darth Vader's bathroom?
