REAL Moleular Bonded Shell like K.I.T.T.'s

Postby CJaguar442 » Dec 27, 2007 5:04 pm

I was watching Smash Lab on the discovery channel last night and there were using rhino liner to protect a house from an explosion and they tested it in a truck. they blew up two trucks one with the liner and one without the liner. the truckbed with the liner suffered just a tiny dent. the truck with no liner it went to moon in a million pieces. they even shot it with a 12 gauge shot gun buckshot, it repelled it but

I have heard of a better liner called "Line-X" Anti-terrorist spray which the military uses on Humvee's in Iraq and Afghanistan and on buildings.

That's cool but what on earth does that poll have to do with the thread?

look up Line-X "Paxcon" anti terrorist spray for more info

"Washington, D.C., . (April 29, 2004) - In 1999, the Air Force Research Laboratory began testing LINE-X for use in blast mitigation applications. Out of all products tested, LINE-X was the only one that passed every test and was ultimately selected for deployment. Application of LINE-X for the purpose of blast mitigation soon followed at the U.S. Pentagon. By February, 2003, phase one of the Pentagon project was completed. Now, in 2004, phase two is underway with additional applications likely as the retrofit project progresses.

Additional testing is underway by the Office of Naval Research to evaluate the blast mitigation properties of LINE-X polymers on military vehicles as a sprayed-on polymer armor, protecting our troops in combat. Initial results have been very promising.

Recently, an article appeared in "ARMY TIMES" detailing the recent research and testing of the "polymer armor"."

So who's going to go take their K.I.T.T. replica and get it coated? :D

If I was rich I'd have it put on my car (no not a replica) and then test it out with a few gun shots. >_> Did I mention I'd do this if I was rich?

it costs as much as a truck bed liner would cost. if you want the Paxcon stuff it would cost you $50 per sq foot

Yeah I know it's not a huge amount though paying a few thousand dollars to coat an entire car with something that may or may not stop the bullet being shot at it, I'd would prefer to be able to afford to fix it if it didn't work, though I guess it could be tested before hand. :kittside:

how much sq feet is your car. what heard it is a great rust prevention tool. up here in the bay state they use salt on the roads and we have harsh winters. and like i said before the cars up here suffer from car cancer.

i would put it underneath the car and in the wheel wells where rust is common place.

I'm in Michigan so I know all too well about the "joys" of icy roads and what salt does to vehicles. Anyway, I wouldn't put it on my current vehicle (a 1990 G10 Chevy van). I'd do it to a vehicle that, at the very least, looks cool. :D Hence another part to the "if I was rich" thing.

interesting, i didn't know line-x could be hard core.

used as an under spray, from the interior side, pull off fenders and spray then on the inside, ect, you could have somethign.

how much extra weight would it add to a car if it was covered in line-x?

One thing they didn't do on that show is cover the bottom of a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am in that stuff, and explode a bomb under it, to see if the result is like on Knight Rider!!! :) lmao ;)
