While I was watching that examination of the dead guy, I kept asking myself "Why can't Kitt scan the guy and get that information?"

- Perhaps the body bag was lined with lead and his x-ray vis...oh wait that's another show about a SUPER "dude" trying to be more human.

Good catch dude
The TOS Michael Knight Sr.'s comlink could scan the dead body or what ever KI2T scanners could not pick up and his biometric scanners should have been able to read the dead body as well. That makes you go WTF!! :kitt:

I think this is a first one that a had a jovial ending raher than something ominous. I don't mind ominous endings per se, but its nice to have a fun one once in awhile.

I agree with Michael, it could use mroe car action, but a good episode, KITT pinning someone against a wall/car is also VERY TOS. It was a familiar move to me, i liked it.

You're right, we don't need a problem to solve, lets just turn into a porno, good call. Maybe next week KITT and Mike can track down a cure for Sarah's persistent yeast infection.

Michael Pajaro wrote:But it didn't have the most important element: car action. This is a show about a superCAR. Not super-surveillance.

Not meaning to stick my foot in it here; but for me, Knight was about one man *and* his supercar making a difference.
Yes, the car has super-abiliies, but they merely serve to assit Michael in his quest(s).
And sometimes part of that "super" ability to doing super surveillance. Albiet in a humanistic manner :P

Now do I think that KITT should have done something else? LIke say, Turbo Boosted? yea. proabably. But KITT didn't *always* Turbo Boost in TOS. And I shouldn't expect that here either.

As for those who moan, groan, gripe or otherwise nit pick; this is just a Tv show guys. Like TOS was perfect?
Come on. How many of us laugh, giggle or shake our heads when we saw the "high tech" ways that Ki2t "water skied" when it was a model in a tub? or "turbo Boosted" across a gulley when it was a model?

So please, spare me with the "too many transformations" bit.
Otherwise great ep! Fairly good story, All basic TOS elements in play here. Right down to the lack of Kitt's Turbo Boost. :P
Hope the ratings were better this week.!

No, you're right. We should ban anything sex-related. It's much better to have Mike and KITT dissect kittens for the *?$# n' giggles. "Next, on the new Knight Rider".

Thanks for entirely missing the point.

I say that NBC has got the parts from TOS down pat. Just remember that series takes place 25 years later from the TOS. NBC is trying to do the show like the TOS, but guys/gals need to remember this also it no longer the 80s anymore, and I mentiond above
so KITT is a little bit more modernized now, since in the TOS KITT would not have nano technology at all, KI
KITT is going to transform in this series, when he needs to just like he did last night since the truck was need for off-road stuff.

The part when in the TOS when KITT need the High Traction Drop Down was so he could get up a hill, but the trans am did fine on a dirt suface, but for a mustang that is hard for it hand the dirt, and in a eailer episode of this series we see KITT in mustang mode she sarah driving kitt in the desert.

In this series proball KITTS scanner are that power as to the TOS, they were probally now cameras in the room when Michael was looking at the body, so that is why KITT kind of walk him through. and do not forget the TOS did not have the suface tech.

You saw in a ealier episode of this series when Michael got out of the car to get his mission assignment, and KITT says I could put up on the inside, but Mike says he likes out there, since he was tried from the previouse mission and did not want to sit down.

KITT is just more modernized in this series so people get use to him transformering when he needs to.

I have a feeling next week we will, the KITT Hero, Attack KITT, and the Truck, and we might see turbo boost, and possiblely see ski mode again.

We know that kitt can turbo boost in Normal mode & Attack Kitt, and his nano tech also works on both modes, It would be kind of neat to see if the truck mode can do turbo boost.

The nano tech works on the truck mode also

NBC dose not want to make the NEW Seires exactly like the TOS, they hand it to them that they got parts of the TOS down pat into the new series

No problem, thanks for returning the favor.
MY point was there's always a snide remark that anytime one of us complains about the T&A someone always assumes we're some ultra-conservative hypocrite when in fact I mostly complain that it takes away from the episode. The violence actually serves a purpose as making the bad guys evil, the sex scenes took more plot away from a show that was already lacking it in most episodes.

You engaged in some hyperbole, excuse me for thinking I might too.

Oh, I'm sorry, I must've imagined the countless comments about how the Tn'A are not "something I want my kid to watch" all these months and the lack of any similar comments about the punching and the shooting in this episode.

I liked the episode, lots of TOS feel. Corrupt Sheriff, exploiting people that couldnt' help themselves.

The dreaded transformation ugh... if the crown vic cop car could make it.. the mustang could too. I doubt a Trans Am is at home on dirt roads but it sure didn't stop KI2T from trying or getting there. The car has to have limitations.

I know it seemed like I had more bad than good to say but honestly I liked the episode and want more of this formula.

After watching last night's episode I have to tell you that it's no wonder the series is going down the drain. KITT didn't do anything...I mean nothing. What's the point in having a super tecnologically advanced car, packed with gadgets of all sorts if you are not going to use it? Sure, KITT has developed a sense of humor which is cool and funny but we have yet to see all the marvels it has inside. They could have shown us what KITT is made of on Knight To King's Pawn and we all know how that turned out. They blew it big time. Knight Rider has become just another stupid series with boring content and not enough KITT action. The only thing KITT seems to be good for is to take people to the emergency room as this is the second episode where he does such a thing. I'm a big KR fan but this is disappointing. The original series had KITT doing more action stuff than this new series. The seriously need to get people with real imaginations to write their stories. Nothing has been explained right from the beginning. The now F.L.A.G. sucks. It seems empty and fake. Grainman should have never been killed off. I am absolutely bored with the series. The only thing that MIGHT save the series is an appearance by the Hoff in a few episodes, other than that, I am sorry to say, but they are doomed for cancellation.

This whole "it's not the 80s" point that keeps being brought up to support weak points needs to stop. You know I venture to say that many of the television series plot points and movies for that matter were infinately more entertaining then they are today. Newer generations call them "cheesy" and whatnot but what these movies and television shows had was some form of believability behind them...a necessary element that seems to be lacking today from shows that are not built upon crime drama or courtroom sessions.

Knight Rider: The Series continues to lack belivability.

Television shows with substance and sometimes positive messages from the 80s like Highway to Heaven, ALF, Mr. Belvedere, Star Trek the Next Generation, Tales from the Darkside, Tales from the Crypt, The Fall Guy, MacGyver, Remington Steele, Simon and Simon, and so on.

These shows had a logical structure to the stories they were trying to tell, even if they delt with more controversial subject matter like the supernatural or aliens.

Take any Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie, any James Cameron movie, Poltergiest, E.T., Indiana Jones, any earlier Stephen King movie like Christine, Maximum Overdrive, The Cat's Eye, . You even take latter movies like Die Hard, and if you want cheesy yet entertaining, take Big Trouble in Little China, Overboard, Back to the Future, Gremlins, The Explorers, etc.

The majority of these movies had both entertainment value and a decently written and paced story for audiences to follow. It is one reason why they still hold up today as classic entertainment that is not for the most part swept under the rug.

Today it's CG eye candy and little substance. At least in the 80s television had more fun and I grow very tired of hearing the "newer audience" bring up the "It's not the 80s" card when they have some point to prove, it's just as insulting as telling the TOS fans that they need to "get with the times." or to stop looking at things with "rose tinted" glasses. This whole mentality is a copout that just because Knight Rider was made in the 80s, everyone wants NBC to remake the same exact show today --- this is not the case, what we "older" fans want is believability and structure. Clearly we haven't seen it and clearly NBC knows it's not yet there with their various "reboot" attempts.

The fact is if this new Knight Rider wishes to reach the level of success of TOS by earning another season, the concepts in the TOS as story points are based upon common sense, answering those cruicial questions of who, what, where, when, why, and how in a span of an hour and if it can't be written to contain some sort of consistant structure or pace, don't go blaming the 80s show because of its time period, blame the writers who don't understand how to write a decent and consistant story.

Clothes go out of style, people go out of style, cars go out of style, but telling a good story is eternal.

Just have some respect.

What everyone seems to forget is this is not the old Knight Rider. I would love to know the ratings in the first season of TOS compared to the 2008 version. I know there are more channels to choose from now but it would be an interesting comparison.

Everyone who complains, and they are welcome to their opinion, that its not TOS well its not and I am glad. What would the opinions be if they just did the current show with old scripts. You think anyone would watch? nope.

As for KR 2008 at first I was like everyone else movie was great and was exciting when it was announced it was going to be a series. Some episodes are always going to not be as good your not going to get 100% perfect ones.

Last nights episode was good and funny. KITT has a personality finally. As for the transformations, If it is used sparely and in a good spot like last night I can live with it. They are not going to get rid of it. I hope we get a second season.

I know man.....we cannot afford a fluctuation at this stage....lets hope the ratings depict the "TRUE" picture for once....and what surprised me the most is that i read alex nunez's autoblog live blog and he didnt have anything that bad to say!.....and the comments were more positive then negative. i thionk alex should see that the show is getting better and just move on with his lame excuse he calls life.

You are obviously an obsessed fan boy teen who doesn't understand the reality of the situation. LOOK at the ratings, they speak for themselves. The series doesn't stand a chance right now at that day and timeslot, especially with those not-so-good stories. If they don't improve the stories and give the fans what they want, they will sink. They have not impressed anyone at NBC and they know it. The KARR vs KITT story was a complete disaster. 10 minutes of action cut to 2 - mostly NBCs fault for that. They only thing that might save this series is:

1. Get the Hoff on the series for a few episodes.
2. Move the series to Syndication TV where it will have a better chance to survive and actually be watched.

Right now, the only people watching the series are die hard fan boys like you who don't care about the stories or anything else but watching KITT ride on the road with Mike and make jokes or take people to the Emergency room.

They are not impressing anybody - except you of course - and the ratings clearly indicate that. The show is a failure whether you want to accept it or not. It hasn't delievered so get a grip on reality kid.

Christ, there's a lot of animosity in these boards. Makes me cringe.....reading through four pages of it is really a chore. I'm actually in a worse mood now from slogging through it.

At any rate....I liked the episode. It didn't stand out as much as last week's ep, but it was pretty solid (and remember that last week's episode was supposed to be a season finale, so it's understandable that it was a better episode).

I'm just going to bullet-point here.

Things I liked:

-KI3T. Awesome in this episode; great dialogue, great lines. I liked the fact that he wanted his scan of the bag to be a surprise for Michael; that made me smile. I liked the fact that he used the footage of the Sergeant to scare the crap out of the bad guy running out of the building; it was creative on KI3T's part and fit very well. KI3T imitating the Sergeant was great as well.

-The Mike/KI3T bond. It was there, and it was really good.

-The classic TOS "pin the bad guy against an obstacle". Good stuff.

-The transformation. It made sense, and I actually predicted from the start of the episode that it would have been used to go off-road - and it was. It wasn't abused and it fit the circumstances well.

-KI3T taking the girl to the hospital. I'm not sure, but I think I'm sensing a formula here. I like the fact that Mike and KI3T can act independently, and I liked the exchange in this - KI3T wanted Mike come with, to be safe, but Mike had to get the tape back and was willing to sacrifice his safety for the mission. Good stuff.

Things I wondered about (but can easily accept):

-The girl's non-reaction to the HUD. I personally would have been pretty wowed by it, but I can understand if she wasn't. Windshield displays are becoming more common these days and since Mike's a FLAG agent, it's understandable that he'd have nice tech.

-No effect for the bullets hitting the truck. I don't think that the sheriff was a terrible shot, and I expected to see the nano effect, but it wasn't a huge deal.

-The editing in the beginning - it was a little breezy and I expected a little more exposition, with the whole "Hi, I'm Michael Knight from the Foundation" to introduce the characters a little better, but I imagine that they cut some of that to make room for the rest of the episode.

Moving on...

A lot of people are pretty pissed about the transformations. Someone complained about NBC not getting it "right" after the previous episode, or something. Seriously, guys? I must say that when I read those comments, I don't feel very good about them. Remember that the episodes have already been written and filmed and because of the reboot, the episodes are now out of order. As such, it's understandable, especially after we just saw what was supposed to be the season finale, that the upcoming episodes will reflect more of what we saw in at the beginning of the season.

Personally, I think that ignoring this knowledge and giving NBC and the writers a hard time reflects badly on us as a community. Stuff like "why don't they listen to what the fans want" obviously won't apply until there's a second season. Complaining about the transformations won't take them out of the episodes that have already been filmed and committed. So to those who make these comments, your opinion is valid (and constructive criticism can always be appreciated), but please remember about the episode order before bashing NBC, the writers, or the show.

Soapbox over.

Just watching this one on Hulu and had a silly piece of trivia to share...

The fight bar in this episode is none other than Newcomb's Ranch on the Angeles Crest Highway. Looks like a lot of the driving scenes were done on the highway too.

It's a fun bit of road for car/motorcycle cruising, most of the racing scenes in the Herbie series were done there too.
