I have to admit that overall it doesn't look TOO bad, it just looks unfinished. However, that stock nosecone has to go. I never realized how different KITT's nosecone is from a standard Trans Am's until I saw a KITT scanner with a stock nosecone. It just doesn't look right!

I've also got to agree that it really doesn't look that bad. If you actually go to the eBay site and check out the rest of the pictures, the dash looks better than in the picture posted in this thread.

It's certainly not as good as other replicas I've seen, but it's not horrible.
I try to put a little KITT in any car I own!

LOL, it is crooked and all bent out of shape, it really is dreadful, and very basic... It appears that you would need to scrap the entire thing.

It has a little less than 110,000 miles, yeah, not a great car for a conversion, I personally wouldn't want to convert one over 40 or 50 thousand miles, because those cars even with low mileage were a pain to take care of, after 100, forget it...

He should advertise it as the pilot version, as that had a stock nose in some clips LOL.

the car itself looks to be in decent condition, though i agree about the miles. american cars arent worth the work after 100k.

that poor guys been trying to sell that car forever now. i saw it on there sometime late last year : )

Even if the car was hihg mileage, you should always get the car in prefect mechanical shape before the conversion process.

And about that dash, scrap it along with the pods and wheel. That old stuff is out.

Funny thing is, that car is probably what a lot of people think KITT looked like. Many of the early toys looked like that - just a regular front-end with the red "thingee" attached to it.

Makes me think of that Benchwarmers movie.

"Who are you?"

"Oh, just a nerd, who grew up... to make minimum wage."

are you sure? i am rob's son and i work in his knight rider conversion shop now. given i was very young when he started making this stuff, but i don't remember seeing that particular shaped dash and pod lying around when i was growing up. and most of those parts are forever branded into my memory.

Dave,

That id Robs very firstbstyle dash. Similar to the one they just
used in the "Kickin it old school" movie.

Althoguht that may not have been made by your dad personally.
Could have been a BK Auto dash. Those were very thin and subject
to warping.

Still with your new stuff. Thats the way to go now adays. :D
