Sticking disc!

Post by whet » Thu Oct 20, 2005 1:37 pm

I decided to watch "goliath" today, all was fine but at the end of the episode when Micheal tears up the ticket outside cesars palice,

The dvd just gets stuck.

I have tried wiping it with a disc cloth, but still it happens.

I have examined the disc, there does appear to be a small scratch near the edge of the disc.

But I am sure that was there before, and all the other discs have similar marks on them and they seem ok.

anyone got any advise?

Or do I just get the set again and hope the same problem don't happen?

I found that on every dvd set I own(excluding the dukes of hazzard sets)there is always one episode with this problem and it makes me mad but there is nothing I can do about it so I just go to where the spot of that ended.

Since you're in England, I'm not sure if the Region 2 sets were produced in Mexico like I believe the Region 1 discs are. But if that is the case, it's probably a result of cheap manufacturing so Universal could save some cash. Just speculation on my part, though.

Mine Are the R1 vesion.

It worked fine when I got the set in April.

I am also having trouble with the first part of Brothers keeper :(

A freind tell me you can have the disc re coated I guess its worth a shot!

If any marks stractes etc don't go as far as the data layer,

If it don't work look's like I will just have to buy the set agian!

Fortunately I don't have any problems with my own DVD sets, but if you're having problems, perhaps you should, well, wipe them clean with a clean, soft cloth of material.
Just a suggestion.
If that doesn't work, please go ahead and purchase a DVD set that actually works!

Typical outsourcing by giant corporations. Why would the workers there give a crap about what they're producing? I suspect that this is where all of those pesky fingerprints and scratches come from when customers open their sets for the first time.

Well I decided to bite the bullet and get dvd cleaning kit!

Absolutely a complete waste of time and money.

I did however find a web site that recommend Brasso.

I am not sure if you get it state side, but Brasso is a small tin of metal polish.

I gave it a go, and kept my fingers crossed, and to my surprise it work, the disc now plays flawlessly.

So guys if you have any problems with sticking discs give it a go, it worked for me.

BTW I put it on with the bud provided and wiped it off with some soft tissue,

It does appear that the disc surface is smudged, after any amount of wiping.

But if it does the job who cares??

Don't quote me, but it has worked for me

Use furniture polish. It seems to fill the scratch and the errors are then compensated by the error software of your DVD player. Polish it well before puting it back in your player though.

Just a thought?
Take a look in the Glove Compartment?
