Wow. As the ad says, a great car to make into a KITT replica, but not a bad looking car in it's own right, given it's age.

Edit: In fact, give it the PMD headrest-style bucket seats and the silver wheels with bowling ball hubcaps and it looks a LOT like Michael Long's car. Heck, just like Michael Long's, it's even from Nevada!!

The seller described the wheels wrong. The wheels on the car are the Turbo Finned Wheels. You need the Turbo Casts.

What a nice vehicle. If I had some mechanical knowledge and lived in or near Nevada, I would consider that car mine. You don't find them in that good of shape on the east coast. Road salt in the winter just eats cars away.

GREAT car! Looks almost like it has the Recaro package but I see it actually doesn't?

Anyway, Henderson NV is where my employer is (I work from home, btw)

If I had the money and room, I'd love to have that car. Why even hack it up and convert it. It's just too nice looking. But for a conversion it would definitely be a good start as it looks like not much needs doing, bodywork-wise (if anything at all - looks pretty pristine from what I saw of the photos).

Hi Bobby, welcome aboard. As for the car you showed us, it's very nice, but it looks like only a partial KITT conversion, possibly just exterior. I can see a stock steering wheel, no PMD seats (you can see the bulky headrests), and it also doesn't appear to have the "curved" dash to accomodate KITT's TV monitors.

Also, purists (which most of us are ) will notice no turnsignal blackouts on the nose, just a smooth nose.

I just noticed that KITT-like car on ebay while browsing. Thanks for the list of differences. Can an exact KITT be built? You could use small televisions for the dash but I'm not sure about the onboard printer.

I don't know about a 100% exact KITT, with such things as a working printer, but I know a heck of a lot of people have built accurate replicas with screens in the dash, the Knight Industries gullwing steering control, the PMD seats and so on. Some people even get recordings of KITT's voice and tie it into the voice modulator so the car can appear to talk.

If - and it's a big if, but IF - I had a small fortune, I'd love to build one.

Well, the availability of the turn signal blackouts varies on which season Replica you want. Only 1st and 2nd season had the blackouts. The 3rd and 4th season had the smooth nose.

And to answer your question Bobby, Yes it can be built. With the money, desire, and determination it can happen.
