Re: Plot lines...

The bottom line is that this show was a product of the 80's, just like so many other ones before and after it. The plot lines weren't always researched to THAT extent. Even though out of all the shows of the 80's, Knight Rider is still my favorite! I couldn't agree more. As with any show, you have ...

Traditionally, what made pony cars so successful was that they were affordable and easily modifiable. From what I'm reading, this new concept is basically a Corvette powertrain with a new body and four seats. Isn't that the same recipe that killed the F-bodies in 2002?

I recently learned that in the 4th season they started using miniature RC controlled replicas for some of the more dangerous stunts. I've actually seen one of the original replicas at a local auto museum (they occasionally have pictures of it at volocars.com).

Here are my choices: Michael Knight's replacement - The Rock Bonnie's replacement - Halle Berry Devon's replacement - John O'hurley (if he can break his comedic stereotype) Car - Dodge Viper Theme Music - Sandstorm by Darude BTW, great thread idea Knightridergundam no need to apologize. I would have...

It's SRT. And that sucks. The 98-02 T/A's didn't have that problem, I should know, I have an '02. Which brings me to my next point, KITT was, is, and always will/should be a Trans Am. Period. Just like the General Lee is a '69 Charger, Herbie is a VW Beetle, and the Starsky and Hutch car is a '76 T...

The point I'm trying to make is that the "K.I.T.T. Kit" doesn't have a lot of information because there wasn't enough fictitious information from the show. At least nothing more than a page of systems. Just like we never got to see exactly what K.I.T.T.'s engine looked like. That's just i...

Well, even on the show, the details of this "in-depth" manual didn't exist. It was actually a Pontiac Firebird owner's manual that simply had the Knight 2000's name on the cover. Man, now I'm starting to think that the car they used to film the series didn't actually have artificia...

PS Anyone ever thought about making a step-by-step guide with photos? I think FuzzieDice is working on that. I started making a step-by-step model conversion guide a few years ago, when I decided to build a scale model of my 1989 Formula. Since there isn't a model of an '89 out there, I started out...

Well, I think KITT would still the same car model as he was in the 1980s, but with hugely high-tech Internet access, 2 kinds of a convertible mode, and almost all the gadgets installed except KITT would have olive oil jets instead of the oil jets on the show. This is totally theoretical stuff from ...

I understand your caution regarding this subject, as this is a highly sensitive issue :D The reason why it's a good idea to dechrome parts is that both glue and paint do not adhere well to the chrome finish. Paint will stay on, but rubs off easily. I've always used household bleach to remove chrome ...

What car would KITT be today? Don't read if tired of topic

Being new to this site, I would guess that some of you may to be tired of this topic, but I'm certain that there are other KITT fans who are not. I regard the 3rd generation (82-92) Firebirds as the best looking cars ever made. Note that this opinion may have been made influenced by my childhood adm...

Yeah, I have the gray AMT/ERTL KITT kit in my ever-growing pile of models that I will one day assemble. I only suggested obtaining a black MPC KITT model because I remember how "well" the paintjobs my first three or four car models turned out. Also the MPC kit is more accurate than the AMT...

Wow, I didn't think that the Ponch and John show was that popular since they quit making it. I've given up on waiting for a new Knight Rider movie. Personally, I think that the TV series was fantastic, but it only worked "as is" in the early 80's. I mean, if there was a new movie, KITT wou...

The main problem you'll have with spray painting will undoubtedly be "orange peel", meaning that you'll end up with a textured surface. You can try sanding it off, but in the process, I usually end up removing the paint completely from some of the contoured surfaces. If you're looking for ...

I agree that the cultural differences may play some part in how KR was received, but probably not in a negative way. I can relate personally, because, as a kid, I emigrated to the US right in the middle of the first KR season from an Eastern European country. I was hooked on the show since the first...

Looking for KITT owner's manual

Hi, as you can tell I'm fairly new to this site. As a kid in the early 80's, I was a huge Knight Rider fan....then there was this whole college/post college "party thing" in the 90's that somehow got carried over into the early 00's. Now that I'm married, with kids (visions of Al Bundy???)...

Nowadays, very few models come with paints and glue. I would suggest discarding your old glue and paints. I usually buy most of those supplies, separately, at hobby stores or in model sections of department stores. As far as small detail paint, personally, I buy hobby enamels in 1/4oz bottles. The b...

Hi, I'm also new to this site and a model builder. I have an assembled MPC KITT model from 1983 and an unassemled AMT/ERTL kit which I bought more recently. You're right the AMT/ERTL KITT does not have the air extractor vents. My advice would be to get the vents from a "donor" model. For e...
