Stevie getting shot and killed on her wedding day in The Scent of Roses was more shocking to me and more emotional too. As far as I know, nothing changed with the scanner in the new series.

Just to clarify it's not the actor/actress name, but the surname of the character they play.

The character appeared more than once in Knight Rider and on their return their surname was completely different in the credits than what was spoken in the actual episode.
