Re: KR Movie: Hoff talk & wishful thinking?

I thought that making a KR feature was a long shot, until they spent $200 million on Jack and the Beanstalk. They are obviously desperate for material that has some built-in familiarity with the audience, and KR certainly has that.

Re: To everyone that knew Taoworm/Joshua READ!

I'd like to offer my condolences as well. Josh and I exchanged several private messages during the run of KR08, and he was very helpful to me here. He was a great guy, and I'm saddened to hear of his passing.

Just saw him on an episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' where he played a Doctor giving board exams to residents. So, he's still working. He sure looks his age, though.

Re: why wasn't KR08 successful?

I came to the shootin' match with a .22, y'all brought bazookas. Look, far be it from me to impugn the judgement of folks who feel so passionately about a subject. I was stating my opinion, and I stand by it. Granted, good casting AND good writing would be the preferable situation. But I think that ...

Re: why wasn't KR08 successful?

I've come to the conclusion that casting is one of the most important components of a successful show. There've been a lot of knocks on the quality of writing on KR08, but at least three of those writers are now working on critically acclaimed shows (Friday Night Lights, Justified). What makes these...

Dave Andron's episode of Justified called 'Hatless' is airing this week, with another airing Friday at 11, and Sunday at 11:30, on FX.

The show has been getting good reviews, and has been renewed for a 2nd season.

Sorry, but that's correct. No Blu-Ray.

It's really a shame; it was such a visual show, and looked great in Hi-Def.

Dave Andron update

Since there have been a lot of (mostly positive) remarks about Dave Andron on here recently, I thought you'd like to know what he's up to. Unfortunately, there is no KR in his immediate future, but he has been busy: Last thursday night an episode of 'Past Life' that Dave wrote, called Dead Man Talki...

Re: why wasn't KR08 successful?

Should NBC have done more with it? sure, but as I understand it, the TV series was created solely to block any movement on the motion picture. NBC really got a win - win, they keep the motion picture from leaving the developmental stage, and the show plugged a hole against American Idol. I know we'...

Re: The whole world hates NBC

i hate ppl crying about Conan, he is gettign freaking $45 million (33 million goes to him) to walk away. Conan is greedy because he couldnt wait an extra 30 mins for his show. Your joking right? Conan wasn't greedy. The reason he didn't take the spot 30 minutes later is because it would be the toni...

The Dexter/KR08 Tie-in!

Any sharp eyed folks who watched the Dexter finale the other night might have noticed that it was directed by Steve Shill, who directed the KR08 pilot/2 hr movie. And at one point, the (season long) bad guy drives off...in a black mustang! I had to laugh at the irony...

Re: Sure, NOW they figure this out....

Yeah, Jay is sucking wind, but it doesn't cost much to produce, and that's all that really matters to NBC these days. They can produce a week of Jay for what it cost to make one KR ep. Simple economics.

Re: Controversial but was GST bad for KR???

I know that GST had a large budget, at least in TV land, for his series premiere, and I think for the most part he squandered it (I know Mike and I disagree on this.) You're wrong... we don't disagree. I don't know any of the details about the budget so I can't really put up too much of debate. Alt...

Re: Controversial but was GST bad for KR???

GST was considered a good choice in the eyes of the studio execs. He had the track record, and they owed him one after the Vegas fiasco. But ultimately, I don't think he was a good choice for the franchise. He was full of promises at the onset, as Mike has alluded to. And I DO think that he was thwa...

Re: Knight Rider 2008 DVD is here

That's not what I'm talking about, you think this is about not giving money to the NBC bigwigs, who are actually the ones on huge salaries and DON'T take a cut from DVD sales etc. No, the producers, writers, actors (like Justin and Paul) will be taking cuts, as will the "smaller people" a...

Re: Knight Rider 2008 DVD is here

On a side note I thought I should mention why GST's name is not on the DVD as well as why one of the cast members had there likeness struck from the box art. Anyone have a guess yet? It's because GST was embarrassed of the project (mainly the reboot) and didn't want his name associated with the sai...

Re: If KR08 really is finished

Whether is still exists or not, NBC could not release the Arnett work on KR in any way, shape, or form without being sued by GM. So, I'm afraid you're stuck with Val. It was quite a crisis, I recall. One month before the airing of the pilot the word came down to the producers that they had to replac...

Re: NBC absolutely sucks.....

It was a forgone conclusion among the producers that if KR08 came back, it would have to be shot in Canada. But getting the costs down alone would not be enough. KR08 had three main problems; it was ratings-challenged, it was expensive, it was not the kind of show that NBC wanted to be a part of goi...
