Re: Wheel/tyre swap

I just swapped the tyres, you have to peel the tyre off and rotate the wheel as you apply the tyre to the wheel again.

Re: Wheel/tyre swap

In case any one was curious (I guess by no replies no one else has done this), you can swap the tyres as I have now done this.

Wheel/tyre swap

I see the base version of the Hot Wheels 1:18 Knight Rider has improved tyres, does anyone know if these better tyres can be swapped with the square tyres on the Elite version as that is the only thing that spoils the Elite version?

Re: Got my Hotwheels Elite KITT!

When I got mine the T-tops wouldn't sit flush, but by wiggling it about, and holding it down for a while, mine now sit better.

Re: So what's the verdict...who makes the best diecast KITT?

Do you meen the catches that were used to secure the bonnet and tailgate during initial transit?

The only thing that disappoints is the hole that is left in the boot floor due to this design to hold the tailgate down during initial transit.

Re: Hot Wheels Elite modifications

@andy Nice work - looks much more realistic. Have you also seen any option to push up the red scanner plastic element more up to the bonnet, to let the upper edge of the scanner disapear or is it glued? The whole red scanner lense is fixed to the body. If you look at the first picture of my previou...

Re: Hot Wheels Elite modifications

It is a shame the LEDs point upwards instead of forwards, but I think its like this due to the limited space as the headlamp cross-bar runs across the front also. Perhaps micro LEDs will be a better option? As someone on here suggested I did at some tin foil to act as a reflector along the back edge...

Re: 1:43 KITT

I would have preferred it if they had faded out the red front scanner light to make it look like it was working, and I don't get the big black lower side window lines, would have looked better if they didn't bother with it. Tyres look better than those on the 1:18, and for those on a budget, 1 match...

Re: So what's the verdict...who makes the best diecast KITT?

Collector Diecast; 1. Hot Wheels Elite KITT (1:18) - Most accurate cast and detail of them all. 2. Skynet (1:43), and still the only official diecast Season 3/4 car. Toys; 1. Kenner talking KITT - For its time it is a proper KITT that talks and comes with Michael figure (when most toys were just Fir...

Re: Got my Hotwheels Elite KITT!

Yeah I have the A-team van as well, both the Elite and Heritage models, Super Elite Batmobile, Elite ECTO, I have absolutely no issues with any of them, I have also a lot of the smaller, 1:43 scale cars, Back to the Future, KITT, A-Team, etc...etc.. all fine My lingering concern is what is the Supe...

Re: Hot Wheels Elite modifications

It is the easiest model to take apart I have worked on because the steering coloum stays with the base, this means you don't have to mess about with getting the steering column back into the rack for the working steering unless you remove the interior/seat assembly. All you need to do is remove 8 sm...

Re: Got my Hotwheels Elite KITT!

I am happy for you that you have received your model. I was thinking, it is really only because of all the working features that KITT has that we are talking about them, if it was like the other Elite models that don't do much except open some doors, what would we have to write about on all these pa...

Re: ERTL AND HOT WHEELS ELITE KITT COMPARISON PHOTOS

Agreed.. Unless a real KR fan works at Mattel/Hot Wheels, we will probably never get a 99.9% accurate and perfect KITT model.. Exactly, I hate that they have painted the top half of the A-team flat grey, where as it should be a darker gunmetal grey, and when I researched into the Elite Magnum Ferra...

Hot Wheels Elite modifications

One of the seats on my model would not latch in place, so I decided to strip the model to investigate. As you can see the catch was not even hooking over. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z167/andy-kitt/007.jpg To rectify this I trimmed off the inside ledge of the slider/release handle so that it ...

Re: Are we crazy?

It wouldn't surprise me if the price of the ERTL KITT falls as people will be selling theirs to fund the purchase of the Hot Wheels Elite version (this is what I did).

My partner thinks i'm crazy spending the money I do on models, but atleast some are investments that will go up in value.

Re: WILL HOT WHEELS MAKE AN ELITE 2.0 KITT AND SUPER ELITE K

I doubt there will be a 2.0 version of KITT. They may do a standard version with less detail and smaller price like they have with the A-Team van, but that is only a guess as I haven't noticed them do that with the Ghostbusters. The model is based on the pilot version, so apart from green lights on ...

Re: ERTL AND HOT WHEELS ELITE KITT COMPARISON PHOTOS

Having compared you pictures with my car, I can now see what you mean about the tail lamp panel having a wave in it, and the front nose intakes/lamp grilles. Mine are OK and in the real show these parts were never perfect anyway. I can't see what you mean about headlamps uneven? Mine when you shut w...

Re: Got my Hotwheels Elite KITT!

I brought mine from Modelautocenter-Berlin on eBay, they had two models at 119 Euros, 1 had sold within hours and I just couldn't wait any longer so brought mine. I noticed the following week he had some more at 129 Euros, this worried me as I thought there were something wrong with mine, the outer ...

Re: Sneak Peek of New Hot Wheels 1/18 KITT!!

I have received my 1:18 today and love it except the passenger seat won't enguage and stay down (the drivers one does, but even that is sensitive) and the T-Tops don't stay down, at the outer ends they pop up out of line, otherwise a great model. I couldn't work out why I couldn't get the headlamps ...

Re: Got my Hotwheels Elite KITT!

Everybody is moaning about the wheels on the H/W version, but in that comparison shot you can see the ERTL was low profile tyres which weren't around back in 1982. Even things like the side marker lamps, door mirrors, high rear spoiler are all things I didn't notice were wrong on the ERTL until I sa...

Auction has started so I won't take offers, happy to post to the US, if you click on the postage tab it should give you a price if you select USA.
