that would be because no one in the 90's could tell what the future would be like. if they knew what phones we would be using now back then they would have designed them back then and now we would be using even better ones

when i signed up everywhere on the net was talking about the project name for the new KR film was knightrider 3000 so i thought what the hell and hence forth i shall be know as KNIGHTRIDER3000

they would ruin it if they made kitt fly as part of the franchise. However it would be very cool to see him take off..........

there is such thing a pre-production. Like getting the props ready, K.I.T.T for example is gonna have to be built several times over, they also need to scout locations and do story bords and things like that i personally think it will be released earley 2006.
