Several UK retailers are showing the 1:18 as in stock now. I got mine from Europe - even including shipping from the continent, it was £25 cheaper than the UK RRP.

There are lots of good diecast retailers in Germany. CK Modelcars, Merge-Left and Modelissimo will almost certainly have these when they get released.

List it on eBay. I sold my Joyride version on there yesterday, and the money will go towards an Elite when they are released in Europe.

It really does look much, much better. The tail end seems much neater with the flat light lens and an improved licence plate.

Nobody knows for sure until we have one in hand, but the fact is the rims on the Ertl model are oversize. Most cars in the 80s didn't come with rims that big. Yeah - it was the early 80s. Even cars from the 90s didn't have low-profile tyres and big rims like they do today.

The rims on the Ertl 1:18 model were 25mm, which would make them about 17.7 inches if they were scaled up. I don't have one of these Elite models yet, but these rims certainly look smaller than Ertl. They might be too small, but I honestly think it's just the tyres that look odd - they're too square...

It's a collector's diecast model, rather than a toy. Nothing else in their range has a light-up dashboard, nor does this model. Take a look at any collector quality model from top brands like Minichamps, Hot Wheels Elite and AutoART - none of them have those sort of 'gimmicks'. They're static models...
