Question about the Knight Rider Fan Nickname

Dear KR Fans,
Is it true what David and Kitt [not William Daniels voice] said about that the KR fans refer ourselves as Knerds, or is it n-e-r-d-s? Based on the Q& A.
Sorry, that wasn't an insult.
What does Knerds stand for? I never knew we were called Knerds.

It's just a fan joke, On the title of the episode.

I have to admit though, Knerds fits better. Apart from the play on the word and the episode title, I'd say "nerd" describes most of us better anyway

So true! Since many of us are into hi-tech stuff due to KITT being such a high-tech car and all that. Knerds I'd go with. Knighties? Forget it. Too feminine.

Hmm... how about if you like Knight Rider but also tv-shows like Miami Vice, somehow I can't see Miami Vice fans as a nerds
