Windows up? or down?

Ever noticed how the driver's side window is up or down in any given scene depending on what is best for the scene? And it changes in an instant. We see Michael riding with the window down, and a second later, he's being shot at and the bullets are glancing off the glass of his window. I first noticed this in the jailbreak scene in Season 2's "Brother's Keeper". But also when KITT is buried under gravel in "Big Iron". As KITT is pushed by the big equipment towards the abyss, Michael is yelling to get KITT to try to stop the situation. His window is clearly down. Yet, only a second later when KITT tips over the top of the hill and rolls side-over-side to the bottom, the window is up again. I've seen it dozens of times in other episodes.

I love Knight Rider, and the cheese is part of the fun. But its always made me laugh how the window is up one second, down the next or vice versa.

Hey cool to see another PA knightrider fan! I live in York Pa. I never noticed the window situation but I will sure be keeping a eye out for it. I love to catch things like this.

I think the reason for is simple, filming with the window up on close up shots would have caused bad refections and make it difficult to see anyone in Kitt.

Personally, if I was in a near-constant criminal world, and I had a bullet-proof car, my window would NEVER be down.
It does kinda defeat the whole purpose. But I know it was for filming purposes.

This was why I don't like convertible mode. Pointless and dangerous.

It's for off-duty recreation.
