Former BAYWATCH star DAVID HASSELHOFF has reportedly been axed from the forthcoming movie adaptation of KNIGHT RIDER, despite begging the show's creator for a part. Hasselhoff, who starred as crime-fighting hero MICHAEL KNIGHT in the 1980s TV series alongside talking car KITT, revealed in 2001 he was "excited" and "working hard" to haul the programme to the big screen with GLEN LARSON. However, his name has been omitted from a press release announcing a movie deal between Larson and Miramax heads HARVEY and BOB WEINSTEIN, according to US TV network E!

If they want to make a "Knight Rider" movie without the "Hoff", that's their business, and I won't be in line to see it.
I'll always have the DVDs of "Knight Rider".
Somehow, I think the movie will be a box office flop.

I would still go to the theaters to see it, however I bet that it would suck!

Let's hope that this is just rumors flying around and not the truth. I can only hope!
Oh yeah, I watched the pilot episode with commentary from Glen and David the other night. Well, I am sure they were just joking but David said something joking with Glen and then Glen said...that's it, you are out of the movie...and they both kinda chuckled. Boy that would be weird if it ended up that David wasn't in the movie.

This sucks. Well I guess the movie will suck like Knight Rider 2000. I was hoping that they will correct the mistakes they did with KR 2000 But seems like they are trying to do a bigger mistake. KR will not be KR without DH OR William D. Just stupid. I thought Glen Larson going to have DH in the movie. Any reason for change of mind? Only thing I can think of is that he wants a younger actor to play Michael Knight.

LuvKITT, you have seen a pilot where they were joking about? And it was a pilot of the new KR movie with a new cast?
The whole story seems to me very strange. David did not tell anything in Vancouver. It was about 25 of Aprin. On 12 of May it was announced that Wainstein Co had bought the rights. And rumors has it that David is definitely not in the movie... After all the years he has tried to bring KR to the big screen...
It's a bad matter for jokes for me.

It was the DVD with the commentary from Glen and David when I was watching the 1982 pilot. You missunderstood me. I am not sure the same type of stuff is on your DVDs over there.
Well, these are just rumors flying around. The press probably doesn't know anymore than we do about it. Who knows what they are going to do. We will just have to wait and see.

I do not want to be pessimistic, of cause, but I do not see any opportunity for David to be involved in the movie as an actor. They are going to do a remake the old TV-series, and it is understandable. They do not need to buy the rights from the Universal. David wanted to make a continuation of the series and had a problem because of the rights.
Maybe, David could be a producer of the movie. I do not know...
We shell see what we shell see...

Well, that's one way of looking at it. The producers have to take David's role in this movie into consideration! I mean, if they were to produce a movie without David starring in it, people wouldn't like it at all, I think, well... atleast I wouldn't. I think we all want to see David behind Kitt's steeringwheel, not Billy Crystal or Ben Stiller or Rowan Atkinson or any other unsuitable character!!! Sometimes I say to myself: I wouldn't be surprised if they would have Rowan Atkinson to act as Michael Knight! The producers didn't want the car to talk, so why not make it worse by replacing David with a comedian! Come on... not having Kitt to be able to talk is almost as stupid as saying that the car should not have any wheels...

Maybe it will be like the movie Hulk.Lou Ferigno played a security guard in the movie,he was the hulk in the tv series.Maybe David could be a car parker at a restaurant?

LOL...I highly doubt they would put David in that small of a role. Kinda funny though.

This kinda what happened with the Dukes movie. They wanted younger guys to play Bo and Luke. I suspect the same is happening here too.

Here's my proposal:
They do an entirely new origin story. A new actor plays Michael Knight; a new car (but still black, naturally) plays KITT. Keep William Daniels as the voice. David Hasselhoff is NOT in the movie.
Then, Hasselhoff shows up in the sequel... as Garthe Knight.

Wait I went to the IMDB and I saw they had The Hoff as Michael Knight
