Hi,
Does anyone know if the KITT featured in this link below is a genuine TV car or a replica. It seems it has been locked in storage for a while...

Any info welcomed.

The car in the featured article is indeed a genuine KITT. It was shipped to Australia in the 80s by Universal studios and taken around to various car shows to help promote Knightrider. After it was no longer needed is was auctioned off and ended up being sold to someone in New Zealand, It has been sitting in a shed gathering dust ever since. Terence (who features in the article) is a good friend of the owner (who is now eldery) must have convinced him to get it out on display. Apparently the original electronic dash could only work if you were able to plug it in to a power point, or you had to use the small petrol generator that came with the car. Not exactly practical, which is probably why he's changed the dash electronics so as it can run off the 12volt battery.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was a genuine car. I live in NZ and was unaware that a KITT lives here, this is great news, I going to try and track it down!!
It would be good if there was a list of where all the surviving genuine KITTS live now. Perhaps there is a list somewhere?
Cheers,
Fred

They didn't get the season years right. KR ran to 1984, not 1986.

Now WHY did I think 1984? Maybe I thought 84 as in "4" and didn't think about how it started in '82. Ok, I goofed again. It did go only 4 seasons.
Me and my bad math.
