knight rider online

Hello to all my homies and homegirls. Hey I have been on this board for awhile and I just love it here, I have made about 5 websites, but there all music releated but always wanted to make a knight rider site, well I have a made a fansite dedicated to the board members! What I mean is that the guy who made Knight Rider Archive is so awesome, you have made pure gold, and much props and respect goes out to you. Many fans have made so cool avi's of KItt and Karr and I posted them as fan pictures, please come and check it out and Knight rider archive has the best info so the episode guide I linked everything to your site, hope that's cool, and knight rider online and knight rider uk were a great tool as well. Check it out and if you want your site or anything knight rider added let me know and I;ll do it, and stop by my message board if you want to, let me know what you think of my site, thanks!!

I think KITT would object to the smoking more strongly than he did Michael's womanizing or choice of diet.

Looks cool. You've got a good design, it's very sharp. One nitpick:

Knight Rider 2000 (The offical movie site of the TV Movie)

That's Scott Kirkessner's website -- it's very professional, but not actually official. The reason I bring it up is that there was a flap a while back about a site claiming it was official when it wasn't, which can cause some problems.

While your enthusiasm for Knight Rider is appreciated, I think you may want to rethink your site a bit. You want to make sure that any site that you do stands out from all the rest, but I'm not sure copying content word for word is the right way to go about it. Maybe if you sold it as a guide more, it would work I dunno.

I know you credit us quite alot, but that seems to be a bit of covering yourself at the end. I know you didn't ask me about grabbing images, but did you ask Paul about linking directly to his website hundreds of times, or borrow Toni's images for your site.

I apologize if you did but your message here suggests to me that you did not. There really isn't any distinction when you goto Pauls site from yours so it can really sell the viewer that your site is Pauls, creating some faulty advertising.

Maybe if it was sold more as a guide, like MIKEMAC's guide to the Knight Rider universe. And then you said for the best episode guide goto pauls, for the best this go here, for the best that go here. It's kind of an angle your hitting here, but not really selling totally. I can't by looking at the site tell if you are trying to be a guide, or a site onto yourself.

Just some friendly criticism.

I agree with neps. I remember taking down a whole tutorial site for graphics that I did when someone decided it was neat to link to EVERY ONE my tutorials directly on their community site. If you like a site so much and love most of their content, instead of linking to each page of the site (which is in a way stealing bandwidth), then it would be best to put ONE link to the site, maybe even see if that site has a link banner you can use, or ask.

It can be rather difficult since the top sites are this one at Knight Rider Online and Knight Rider Archive. For my site, I keep my own KR related stuff on that site, such as fanfic I created, artwork I did, etc. It's not much at all, but it's something so I can refer people to.

If you want to honor KR fans, please don't take from them without asking! Maybe put up a page for each fan you're inspired by and a link to their site, a bit in your OWN words about why you think they should be recognized, and maybe even email them and ask them a few questions, or to say a few words for your site. Just a couple suggestions.

Oh I just thought of something else, you might want to try making a fan listing. Look at some at http://www.thefanlistings.org/ for ideas.

Hey, I appricate your feedback on that and I will work on that. I really in all honesty didn't want to hurt anyone and it's was just for pure fun and excitment. I will change it around to be more of a guide as knightrider online and archive are the main sites. It easy for music cause you can do so much and be so different but with a tv show it's hard to be so differnt. Give me some more suggestions how I should do each page and I'll work on it to make it better. Thanks!

I have made a few changes to the home page and karr and flag page, I personal messaged knight rider archive to see if it's cool I leave the episode page the way it is, I took some stuff off and added my own stuff, so I'm not 100% done with it, but take a look and let me know if the changes are better for right now, thanks.

Just one more suggestion...I noticed that you have duplicated David's entire Multimedia section off his official site: http://www.davidhasselhoff.com/multimedia.html

It would be a good idea to just link to David's Multimedia Page instead.

Hi Mikemac

This is a tricky one. I love it that you are trying to honour Knight Rider Online and the Knight Rider Archive, but I really don't like the way you've done it. Speaking for my own experiences, the Archive is the result of over 6 years hard work (and of those 6 years, I've worked almost daily to get the site to the stage it's at now, not to mention invested thousands of pounds/dollars). To log onto your site, click a link, and see my page... well, that's not fun.

I agree with FuzzieDice, that now it is very hard to create a new website, the bar has been raised quite a bit in the last few years. There are plenty of discussion boards (which is a reason I've never gone down that path myself) and it's also very difficult to find a new "angle" to make a Knight-site different from the rest. But you can create your own site if you really wanted to, if you make it your own. There is plenty of information out there that is public domain (that anyone can use); you can get all the cast and crew lists from the episodes, write your own reviews, take your own screencaps, write your own fanfic, spot the nitpicks, study the merchandise, show us your Knight Rider collection, your conversion car... put your own, original signature on something, don't just link to all the pages of somebody else's website (which, as people have already pointed out, hits our bandwidth -- and I'm paying for the privilege of my dotcom). Perhaps, if you did create an in-depth, original site, you might understand our concerns... it burns when you see (and you do, often see) other people ripping off your work and taking credit for it.

Basically, I'd prefer it if you tried to honour the show, not my site. By all means, include a link to the site:

...but not to every page. It's misleading, and it's not fair on me, or to the visitors to your site.

No problem. I will remove the episode page with all your stuff on there. I will just list the episodes and tell people to go to your site full full info on each show, give me a day or to and I'll clean it up. Again, sorry and I will clean up the David Hasselhoff page and episode guide so it's more "mine". Sorry again to everyone and I cleaned up my flag team page and karr, just got a little more to go.
