I've got a bit of a problem building my 1/25th KITT and KIFT models.
What I'm attempting to do is make molds of the dash in clear plastic and light 'em up from behind the dash pieces, but I can't seem to find the right kind of plastic to use (either resin or polystyrene). Does anybody know where I can get the plastic to do this?

I know this seems like a lot of work, but I feel it's better than using fiber optics for KITT's dash, cause they don't look real enough to me. And KIFT's dash details are too big for fober optics.

Hello. Try going to your Middleschool/Juniorhigh industrial technology teachers. They *should* have a unit on plastics in grade 7-ish and *should* be able to get you the plastic you need for cheap, or at least be able to tell you where they get it. They have all colors, thicknesses AND should have machines there that can mold it for you if you don't want to or can't do it yourself. Hope that helps :/

P.S. I know the guy from the Middleschool in my area and can probably get you the plastic myself, but you'll either need to know exactly what you want or I'll have to get his recomendations, AND you'll have to pay shipping.

Well, he's no longer in school.

Try looking for styrene sheets at your local hobby shop. You could then paint it up and just leave the parts to be lit clear and all that. Then cut out the dash area and put in the styrene part. You can use regular hobby glue on the styrene too, if you want. Just a little dab here and there should help.

Of course I never thought to make a "working" dash in mine so it's just an idea.

I never thought about using clear styrene sheets behind the dash. And this would work for KIFT's interior as well. Stupid me!!! Thanks for the advice.
