A KnightRider2000 Review: TV Land Awards (Knight Riderless)

At the stroke of 9:00 PM, I waited anxiously on my couch for the 3rd Annual TV Land Awards to start. The last two shows were pretty cool and featured Knight Rider to be voted in as a category for both shows (Best Duel Performance and Best Deals on Wheels). Imagine my surprise when the awards came on.
I sat through a miserable 2 hours of one of the world’s worst award shows in the history of television. Not only were only 5 of the 20 categories (something like that, it's hard to keep track with the unorganized TV Land web site) for viewers choice awards presented on the show, but it is the first year we don't see a mention of Knight Rider.
As I sat with my eyes peeking through the hands covering my anguished face, I witnessed a 20-minute tribute to Soul Train (horrible singing compliments the horrible show) as well as other bits and pieces of just terrible showcasing.
Cedric the Entertainer was a very bad choice for hosting the ceremony (his jokes and dancing were just to put it bluntly "stupid"), and the whole airline theme made it seem corny, almost a mockery of classic TV.
Some highlights (which I might add were far and few between) included Tim Conway's quote, "These awards are indeed...inexpensive" (pretty sickly looking things) and Don Knotts digging a hole in a short spoof episode saying, "Nip it in the bud!". These were the only two times I laughed during the show.
So what ever happened to the other roughly 15 categories that didn't get presented? My guess is none of the winners could "make it" (or just didn't want to go) to the TV Land Awards. I only wish I knew who was voted the most uninsurable driver (probably Dukes of Hazzard since they are a TV Land favorite for beating out Knight Rider).
If you happen to see TV Land re-running the show, do yourself a favor: go to Blockbuster and bring home Dumb and Dumber or What About Bob?, you know, something that won't insult your intelligence.
