"blog" it's for "skyblog"
"Skyblog" is a little "website" (quicker & easier to use for people who can't crate a real website)
And "sky" it's for "skyrock" a french radio

I always thought a BLOG was a run on complaint about something?

A blog is basically an online journal. There are sites out there that host them and there is software to make it fairly easy to update with text, links, and images.
